Well over 500,000 managers have improved their own performance and brought real benefits to their firms by taking part in programmes such as these. The ILM Endorsed Award is a flexible and practical approach to gaining an external validation and recognition through a premier awarding body and can be tailored to your own specific requirements. This effectively means that firms can decide what to include as part of the course content and the timescale for course completion. The Endorsed Award is not a full qualification – however, delegates still receive a certificate of achievement at the end of the programme and a year’s full student membership to the ILM. These awards offer an excellent introduction to the ILM standards without compromising the quality of content or delivery. To successfully complete this Endorsed programme delegates must: •attend all 6 days of the programme •complete management related tasks outside of the training days •complete an assignment in the form of test questions to demonstrate understanding of management and how the models and theories covered throughout the programme have relevance to the delegate’s work Duration: One day per month over 6 months CII CPD Credits: 25 per day

ILM – Endorsed Programme in Management and Leadership

Every year the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) recognises the professional development achievements of managers from team leader to board level, as well as managers of small businesses. Aims and Learning Outcomes

The ILM Endorsed Award in Management and Leadership is aimed at managers and leaders with specific responsibility for delivering business success and managing change.

This 6-day programme will enable delegates to clearly understand their role as a manager and leader and the impact this has on others. The skills and techniques learned will give delegates the ability to build successful teams which communicate well, achieve targets and work collaboratively.

This is a fully participative programme which encourages group discussions, sharing of experience and linking management theory to realistic work based situations through the use of practical exercises and activities. By the end of this 6-day programme managers will:

•Have a greater understanding and insight into the management role, the duties, responsibilities and expectations

•Know how to build successful teams by understanding the stages of team development, individual preferences to tasks and activities

•Have learnt the skills and techniques to coach, mentor and communicate with others to avoid conflict, develop others and improve performance

•Know the key stages and skills of successful delegation

•Know how to motivate staff by adapting management style and approach to individuals

•Know how to manage themselves through time management, delegation and prioritizing

•Know how to present information to an audience with confidence

•Have achieved a Certificate of Achievement from an Internationally recognised Awarding Body.

Day 1 Understanding of management and leadership

Day 2 Building a high performing team

Day 3 Managing your Time and Effective Delegation

Day 4 Managing change n the workplace

Day 5 Coaching for Management Success

Day 6 ‘Bringing it all together’ & Presenting with Confidence

Assignment Test questions to demonstrate understanding of management and how the models and theories covered throughout the programme have relevance to the delegate’s work

Each day will run from 0930 to 1630 with a 15 minute break mid morning and mid afternoon and a 45 minute lunch break.

Between each training day delegates will be expected to carry out practical tasks to test out the management models and theories covered during the course. The results of this will be shared at the beginning of the next session. On day 6 delegates will be asked to submit their work-based assignments for marking and assessment.

Tutor support via email and telephone will be offered before the submission date to ensure that delegates are at the standard required to successfully pass the assignment.

The assignments are marked by the tutor and by an ILM external verifier.

Certificates are issued approximately 8 weeks from the last day of the course.
