Guided Reading

Depending on your child’s ability in reading will depend on how often they meet with their teacher to read with a small group.

The book should be read/reread each night and should tell you about the story and/or the parent can ask questions off the sheet that was given by their teacher.

Parents should initial their child’s Reading Log after reading.

What are Connections?Text to Self is a connection with a book. Something in the book reminds you of something that happened to you.

Text to Text is a connection within two books. Something in one book reminds you of something in another book.

Before You Read Asking questions before reading gives them a purpose for

reading and gets them engaged. When they are looking for the answer, students read more intently.
