Joshua 1:8 Completing the Great Commission will require the mobilization of every fully devoted

disciple. Matthew 28:19 Without the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, we can accomplish nothing. 1 Corinthians

2:4-5 Achieving God’s purposes means taking faith-filled risks. This always involves change.

C&MA STATEMENT OF FAITH

How do you live your life so authentically that there is no question about what you believe? Some people call it their creed; others call it dogma or position. Basically, doctrine is the bedrock on which you build your beliefs—a body or system of teachings relating to a particular subject.

What The Alliance believes about God, how He relates to us, and how we relate to Him is foundational in its teachings. The Alliance wholeheartedly serves God and the people of His world, based soundly on the Bible. We live and die by these words and believe they bring the only life worth living—one wholly committed to the King Jesus.

There is one God,(1) who is infinitely perfect,(2) existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.(3)

Jesus Christ is the true God and the true man.(4) He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.(5) He died upon the cross, the Just for the unjust,(6) as a substitutionary sacrifice,(7) and all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood.(8) He arose from the dead according to the Scriptures.(9) He is now at the right hand of Majesty on high as our great High Priest.(10) He will come again to establish His kingdom, righteousness and peace.(11)

The Holy Spirit is a divine person,(12) sent to indwell, guide, teach, empower the believer,(13) and convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment.(14)

The Old and New Testaments, inerrant as originally given, were verbally inspired by God and are a complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men. They constitute the divine and only rule of Christian faith and practice.(15)

Man was originally created in the image and likeness of God:(16) he fell through disobedience, incurring thereby both physical and spiritual death. All men are born with a sinful nature,(17) are separated from the life of God, and can be saved only through the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ.(18) The portion of the unrepentant and unbelieving is existence forever in conscious torment;(19) and that of the believer, in everlasting joy and bliss.(20)

Salvation has been provided through Jesus Christ for all men; and those who repent and believe in Him are born again of the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become the children of God.(21)

It is the will of God that each believer should be filled with the Holy Spirit and be sanctified wholly,(22) being separated from sin and the world and fully dedicated to the will of God, thereby receiving power for holy living and effective service.(23) This is both a crisis and a progressive experience wrought in the life of the believer subsequent to conversion.(24)

Page 6: SECTION I - madcma.org Provisi…  · Web viewA.W. Tozer. Choose one. of these books: Power through Prayer, E.M. Bounds. With Christ in the School of Prayer, ... of preaching and

Provision is made in the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ for the healing of the mortal body.(25) Prayer for the sick and anointing with oil are taught in the Scriptures and are privileges for the Church in this present age.(26)

The Church consists of all those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, are redeemed through His blood, and are born again of the Holy Spirit. Christ is the Head of the Body, the Church, (27) which has been commissioned by Him to go into all the world as a witness, preaching the gospel to all nations.(28) The local church is a body of believers in Christ who are joined together for the worship of God, for edification through the Word of God, for prayer, fellowship, the proclamation of the gospel, and observance of the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.(29)

There shall be a bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust; for the former, a resurrection unto life;(30) for the latter, a resurrection unto judgment.(31)

The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is imminent(32) and will be personal, visible, and premillennial.(33) This is the believer’s blessed hope and is a vital truth which is an incentive to holy living and faithful service.(34)

BELLSLiving in Missional Rhythm

(As presented by Michael Frost)

Genesis 12: 2,3I will bless you . . . and you will be a blessing . . . and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.

Romans 12:1-2 (The Message)So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering.

Bless at least 3 people each weekThis may be manifest in different forms. It could simply be an email of affirmation or encouragement. It could be mowing a neighbor’s lawn or babysitting for a single mom. It could be a small gift. Bless a person who is a believer. Bless a person who is not a professing Christian. Bless a person from either category.

Eat with at least 3 other people each week Eat with a person who is a believer. Eat with a person who is not a professing Christian. Eat with a person from either category.

Listen to the promptings of God in our livesCommit to specific times of solitude for active listening to God. This might include a prayer walk, the use of prayer beads, etc. Give at least one hour each week for this activity.

Learn from the Gospels each weekMembers are encouraged to read the whole Bible and to have a regular rhythm of Bible study, but to always include the Gospels as part of that reading in order to learn specifically from Jesus’ ways and words.

SentThis is a commitment to consciously live out the missional, or “sent” nature of the church. It can include acts of hospitality, the just stewardship of resources. It is acting for justice, attacking the consequences of poverty, etc.

At the end of your day, answer these two questions and comment on them in your journal:

In what ways did I cooperate with Jesus today? In what ways did I resist Jesus today?

PLANNING FOR THE ORDINATION/CONSECRATION EXAMWhen the candidate nears completion of the requirements for ordination/consecration or church ministry worker license, the final step is to plan for the oral examination and the review of candidate’s work by the Licensing, Ordination and Consecration Council (LO&CC). Candidate and mentor should discuss readiness and agree on a detailed plan for completion.

It is essential that the candidate meet the dates for submitting all written work. Position papers will be distributed to various members of the LO&CC for review prior to the oral exam (ordination/consecration only). The balance of the assignments must be submitted to the MidAmerica District no later than six weeks before your scheduled interview.

The final part of the candidate’s preparation will entail working with his/her mentor to prepare for the exam itself. Both the candidate and mentor have a list of questions to help prepare. The exam will cover four general areas: personal life, doctrine, ministry and Alliance Polity. Candidate should be prepared to explain doctrinal beliefs, in his/her own word, supported by scripture. The only reference book candidate may bring to the interview is the Bible. Candidate should also be prepared to discuss topics covered in The Manual of The Christian and Missionary Alliance.

ELDER EVALUATION FORMMIDAMERICA DISTRICT

CANDIDATE’S NAME_________________________________________________________________

Ordination is the Church’s public recognition of the call from God, distinct from human vocational choice, to men for a lifetime ministry, through speech and exemplary lifestyle, of preaching and teaching the Word of God, protecting God’s people from spiritual enemies and doctrinal heresies, overseeing and promoting the spiritual development of God’s people, and equipping God’s people to fulfill the Great Commission to “make disciples of all nations” for the purpose of knowing and glorifying God by obeying His will and building His Kingdom. The occasion for setting men apart for such ministry is the Church’s affirmation of the candidate’s faithful completion of preparation for ordination through approved education, in-service training, field experience with mentoring for a minimum of two years, and examination by a qualified council of peers. (Manual of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, 2011 edition)

The process leading up to ordination includes the successful completion of the following:

Formal biblical and theological training, or alternative study program

Reading of required books and preparation of required position papers

A minimum of two years of acceptable full time ministry

Supervision by a mentor assigned by the District Licensing, Ordination and Consecration Council (LO&CC)

An oral examination over personal life, ministry and doctrine

The occasion for setting men and women apart for such ministry is the Church’s affirmation of the candidate’s faithful completion of all of the requirements.

A candidate’s ordination/consecration shall normally be recommended by the local church elders to the district superintendent who shall request the candidate’s ordination/consecration to the LO&CC.

It is beneficial for the LO&CC to have the observations and evaluations of local church leadership. The elders should complete this form as a group, and include a motion to recommend ordination/consecration (or not) in their formal minutes.

Please complete this form and return it to the MidAmerica District.
