to all of those involved in today’s tragic accident.

Soldiers’ names, rank or unit at this time out of respect for them and their
families.
The Soldiers were headed to Fort Dix, New Jersey to turn in spent ammunition
shells from a recent training exercise, No live rounds were being transported and
this was a routine mission.
All military vehicle drivers receive 40 hours of classroom training followed by 40
hours of vehicle-specific driver training, must complete an annual check ride and
safety briefing and have a valid State of Connecticut motor vehicle operator’s
license.
Families are being notified and the Connecticut National Guard will be providing
Casualty Assistance Officers and any other aid and support we can to both
families.
We also stand ready to provide support to other Guards men and women who
may be affected by this tragedy.
Military and Civilian authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
Thank you for coming.
