Job Guide: Performance Review (Self Evaluation - Staff) Overview This job guide outlines the steps for an Employee to complete the Annual Performance Review (Self Evaluation - Staff) process in Workday. Prerequisites: The Performance Evaluation is launched each year by Human Resources & Organizational Effectiveness. The tasks will appear in employee inboxes once launched. Important Information: Performance Evaluation templates are assigned to employees based on the job’s Management Level in Workday. Management Level 1-5 and Research Professionals – Other will receive the template Attachment Only with Self Evaluation. Guidance on this template can be found in the Annual Performance Review (Self Evaluation - Attachment Only) Job Guide. Self evaluation is a good practice to reflect on accomplishments, what went well, what could have gone better, and what one may have learned over the past year. Employees should check with their Manager if a self evaluation is required or not. Employees MUST submit a self evaluation, even if the Manager does not require the self evaluation. The self evaluation can be submitted blank by using the Summary Editor, or by clicking Next to advance to the last screen in the task. OverviewThis job guide outlines the steps for an Employee to complete the Annual Performance Review (Self Evaluation - Staff) process in Workday.

Prerequisites: The Performance Evaluation is launched each year by Human Resources &

Organizational Effectiveness. The tasks will appear in employee inboxes once launched.

Important Information: Performance Evaluation templates are assigned to employees based on the job’s

Employees should check with their Manager if a self evaluation is required or not.

1. Navigate to the Workday Inbox.

2. Click on the Self Evaluation task in the Inbox.

3. The evaluation may be completed in one of two ways:

Guided Editor: A step-by-step guide through each section.

Summary Editor: Displays every section on a single page.

This job guide uses the Guided Editor.

4. The first section is Attachments.

A. To attach a document, click Add.

OR

B. Click Next (and skip to Step 7).

Note: Attachments are not required.

5. Browse and select the file to attach, then click Open.

6. The file will display.

A. Comment (optional): Explain the attachment.

B. Click the checkmark when done.

C. To add another file, click Add.

D. Click Next to move to the Goals page.

7. If you previously entered Goals in Workday, they will auto-populate into the Goals page. For each goal, click the pencil icon to edit.

Note: If Goals were not added before Performance Management was launched, they can be added at this time. Please follow the Adding Goals After Performance Management Launch guide.

8. For each goal:

A. Enter the Status: Available statuses are Discontinued, Not Started, In Progress, and Complete.

B. If selecting Complete, enter the Completed On date.

C. Select a Rating: Available ratings are Significantly Exceeds Expectations, Exceeds Expectations, Meets Expectations, Partially Meets Expectations, Does Not Meet Expectations, Not Applicable.

D. Add a Comment (optional).

When you are finished with the Goals page, click Next to move to the Competencies page.

9. A description of each Competency is provided with examples. The Competencies are Service, Teamwork/Collaboration, Diversity & Respect, Initiative and Accountability.

For each Competency:

A. Click the pencil icon to edit.

B. Enter a Rating.

C. Enter a Comment.

Click Next to move to the Supervisory Competencies page.

10. The Supervisory Competencies are Supervision and Organizational Leadership.

A. Click on the pencil to edit.

B. Enter a Rating.

C. Enter a Comment.

Note: If an Employee is not a supervisor, they can leave this section blank.

Click Next to move to the Responsibilities page.

11. The Responsibilities are auto-populated from the Position Restrictions. For each responsibility:

A. Click the pencil icon to edit.

B. Enter a Rating.

C. Enter a Comment.

Click Next to move to the Certification Question page.

12. The Certification Question asks if the Employee is past due on any assigned required Employee training courses. The ideal answer is no.

A. Click the pencil icon to edit.

B. Enter a Rating.

C. Enter a Response.

Click Next to move to the Summary Editor.

13. The Summary view is the same as using the Summary Editor instead of the Guided Editor. This gives you a chance to review your Self Evaluation.

A. Click Save for Later to enter more information later.

B. Click Submit to complete your Self Evaluation.

Note: Once you click Submit, you cannot make any changes unless your Manager uses the Send Back option in the Manager Evaluation.

14. You have successfully submitted your Self Evaluation. Up next is your Manager.

This completes the Annual Evaluation Self Evaluation - Staff business process.
