Sphericel 1 lOP8 Hollow Glass Spheres, when added to an epoxy primer formulation, increase durability of the corrosion-resistant coating. After 1,000 hours of exposure to a salt chamber, a 2-mil thick primer coating with three weight percent beads dem- onstrated significantly better film in- tegrity than the standard primer. Glass spheres also reduce the viscosity of a

coating, allowing paint formulators to increase the solids level and remove solvent. With 16 weight percent Spher- ice1 l10P8 Hollow Glass Spheres, a VOC-reduced primer still has superior corrosion resistance to the standard zinc phosphate-based primer. The ad- dition of the glass spheres imparts hiding and allows a reduction in pig- ment use. Other benefits are chemical and abrasion resistance, increased sur- face hardness, and improved spread and leveling for easier application.
