Safe Driver Awards Program

Training Program

40 Hour DOE Required Training 8 hours behind the wheel

20 classroom hours

Complete remaining hours as deemed by each district

Seminole County Training 18 to 20 hours behind the wheel

32 classroom hours

Plus 8 hours with mechanic for CDL Pre-trip training

One week with trainer after receiving CDL

Remediation

If a driver feels and expresses the need for additional training, Seminole County offers any extra training requested

There will be times when Management deems it necessary for remedial training

In addition, Seminole County requires each driver to complete a 40 hour DOE refresher training course

Reporting Responsibility

What do they report?

Any accident they are involved in. Regardless of County Vehicle, POV, ownership, or fault.

Any traffic citations, except parking violations.

Any expiration, suspensions, or revocations of License.

When do they report?

By the next employee work day.

Administration and Disciplinary Action

Any MVR that has a change, will be flagged and reviewed.

Director of Risk Management

Uniserv Director with the School Bus Drivers Association

Safety Managers

Area Manager of Bus Driver

Accident Review Meeting is a chance for the driver to explain just what took place during the time of the accident

Safe Driver Awards Program

Schools Fiscal Year ( July 1 – June 30 )

No preventable accidents in a District owned or POV

The rewards are as follows

$100 to each driver meeting the criteria

A safe driver certificate and a safe driver lapel pin anually

Additional cash prize drawings
