Sometimes children find these sums confusing. It might be helpful to draw out a separate number line for the children to use. Do plenty of oral practise before completing the page. Ex. Ask the children to put a counter/block/piece of pasta on the number 2 and take 3 jumps forward(using their counter) Do lots of examples first and encourage your child to physically move the counter each time.

Using the pictures below at the end of these pages....cut out the four animals, colour them in. Stick an old lollipop stick/twig/empty kitchen roll to them. Make stick puppets. Cut out the bread/barn etc and retell the story in your own words using the props.
