This email is in reference to your letter dated October 3, 2016, in which you requested to name Richard Hudson as the RSO on your licensee. In order to continue our review, we will need some additional information. Please provide information demonstrating that the proposed RSO is qualified by training and experience.
The RSO should have (1) as a minimum, a college degree at the bachelor level, or equivalent training and experience in physical, chemical, biological sciences, or engineering; and (2) training and experience commensurate with the scope of proposed activities. Training should include the following subjects:
* Radiation Protection Principles
* Characteristics of Ionizing Radiation
* Units of Radiation Dose and Quantities
* Radiation Detection Instrumentation
* Biological Hazards of Exposure to Radiation (appropriate to types and forms of byproduct material to be used)
* NRC Regulatory Requirements and Standards
* Hands-on use of radioactive materials.
Please provide this information by January 6, 2017. Your response should be signed, dated and on company letterhead stationery. Per your request, here is additional information demonstrating the experience and training for Mr. Richard Hudson to serve as our Radiation Safety Officer (encl.).
Richard has extensive experience in working in a laboratory environment and has training in physical, chemical and biological science. He also is very knowledge regarding radioactive material regulations to include; procurement, handling, storage, training, dosimetry management, and disposal procedures.
