A Note from Johnny…

Ifwetookavotetodayonthesubjectofprayer, almost everyone would say they believed in the importance of prayer. Would you not agree? But, if we took a count of how many are actively involved in prayer on a daily basis, I am sure that many would say no. Not only is the belief of prayer important but doing it is even more important.

If a world is going to be changed in the name of Christ it takesprayer.Itisnotjustprayingfortheworld, butthepeople of the world, starting with ourselves and those around us.

One of the old time prayer leaders in the world was a mannamedJohnHyde.JohnHydewasveryinfluentialin the founding of a prayer band in India called the PunjabPrayerUnion.Eachmemberwasaskedtosignthe following prayer pledge, presented in the form of personal questions:

1. Are you praying for quickening in your life, in the life of your fellow workers, and in the church?

2. Are you longing for greater power of the Holy Spirit in your own life and work, and are you convinced that you cannot go on without this power?

3. Will you pray that you may not be ashamed of Jesus?

4. Do you believe that prayer is the greatest means for securing this spiritual awakening, and are you willing to pray until the awakening comes?

Each person at the Prayer Union signed it and God began to move in their lives.

Would you sign a pledge like this? Would you commit to a life of prayer like these people did? I would hope so, if not the question would be “Why not?”

Pray, Pray and Pray some more.

Sunday night, we will be ordaining our Family Life Minister, Dan Tankersley into the Gospel Ministry. I ask you to please come and support this very important time in his life and the life of this church.

Bro. Johnny
