MAES Intern Tournament Overview The MAES Intern Tournament is a competition emphasizing the value of participation in pre-professional experiences like internships, study abroad, and research experiences for undergraduates (REUs). The competition, organized as a student-driven lecture series, brings together recent interns to present on their pre-professional experience and serve as mentors to other students seeking advice on how to prepare and be selected for similar experiences.

This forum fosters a culture emphasizing the importance of pre-professional experiences in a student’s academic, personal, and professional development. The peer-to-peer format of the Intern Tournament also lends to the credibility of the message that pre-professional experiences, when combined with the traditional college education, can dramatically enhance an individual’s success in a STEM career.
