INTRODUCTION

As many of you may know, I spent the first half of August overseas in a visit to South Africa and

Zimbabwe. I had such a great time and published a special chronicle of the trip just a few weeks

ago. Feel free to take a look at it in the MetroEast NEWS catalog. An African Sojourn - South

Africa and Zimbabwe

September is an exciting month around Southern Illinois with many events and organizations to

participate in. Local GSA Chapters are getting into full swing in both High Schools and Universities

in the area. In Carbondale, the long-known Club Traz has completed its renovations and recently

did a roll-out of the next generation for Nightlife in Southern Illinois. Club Traz is now known as

“two 13” Metropolitan Studio Lounge. It can also be said they

are not missing a beat with many events throughout the the

month. Closer to Belleville, Boxers N Briefs also begins a new

chapter welcoming performer MARIAH CANDY as its new show

host. Many of the areas top entertainers will be on hand

performing Sunday nights in Centreville.

PFLAG in Belleville will be meeting next Thursday at 6:30PM for

the monthly meeting.

In the coming week, the 2012 Miss Gay Illinois America will be

crowned at the Casa Loma Ballroom. This evening's theme is BOMBSHELLS - An evening of Silver

Screen Beauties featuring your reigning MGIA Adria Andrews and the reigning Miss Gay America -

Kirby Kolby. Watch as 8 amazingly talented contestants compete to

become the next Miss Gay Illinois America and represent us at the

national pageant. Advanced tickets are available at St. Louis area bars or

at the door the night of the event.

As the editor MetroEast NEWS,

“We seek to be a voice for those who traditionally are not heard.”

The Daniel McCree Foundation advocates for Suicide Prevention as well as

outreach in the areas of HIV/AIDS awareness.

Sincerely,

Colby Kluthe

GET OUT THE VOTE FOR YOUR

VOICE

In a new era of court challenges and efforts to limit the ability for

our citizens to vote, now is a great time to check your own voter

registration and help those near you in making sure they have

registered for upcoming elections. Regardless of your political

ideology we each have a right and responsibility to make our

voices heard. Here is a good start to make sure you are all set

for the upcoming elections.

Am I registered to vote in Illinois? Illinois citizens may check to see if they are registered to vote.

Registering to Vote in Illinois, describes the rules and procedures surrounding the voter registration

process in Illinois. An individual may register to vote in Illinois if he/she is 18 years or older on the next

election day, resides in the jurisdiction for 30 days prior to the election, and is a U.S. citizen.

Illinois' residents may register in person at the office of

the election authority, at Driver's license facilities,

with deputy registrars who are appointed in each

jurisdiction, or via mail using the Illinois Voter

Registration Application.

Authenticating your relationship. Protecting your family.

Sivia Business & Legal Services gives you the personal attention that your relationship needs. We

offer personalized service for you, your family, your relationship and your business.

We assist you with the unique barriers that same-sex couples face in several areas. We assist our

clients in estate planning and power of attorney matters to give each partner more rights in the even

of tragedy. We also handle family law issues -- dissolution of relationship, adoption, custody

actions, and name change petitions. We also assist clients with cohabitation agreements and

contracts to outline the legal obligation of each partner in the relationship.

Committed to the Community

Sivia Business & Legal Services, P.C. started in June 2006 when the founder, Todd Sivia, decided

that his clients desired an attorney that is not only committed to the practice of law, but also

committed to the community. Mr. Sivia created a firm to serve businesses and family in a variety of

areas of law, focusing on asset protection.

Since then, the firm has grown, not only in size, but as a member of the community. Our staff is

active in the Ed/Glen Chamber of Commerce, SCORE (Counselors to America's Small Business),

Rotary, and a variety of community projcts and organizations in and around Edwardsville, Glen

Carbon and Alton, Illinois. Mr. Sivia is a member of the Metro East Landlord Association and

Metro East Real Estate & Investors Association. The attorneys also stay up-to-date on the law

through a variety of legal associations such as the Illinois, Missouri, and Madison County Bar

Associations, and Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association.

We'll listen for your needs and give you the best counsel to meet them.

Todd Sivia, Attorney-At-Law

Mr. Sivia maintains a significant asset protection practice. He

assists his clients in their estate planning and general business needs,

including drafting wills and trusts, representing clients in multiple matters.

Daniel McCree Foundation Adopts the KLIPTOWN YOUTH PROGRAM

by : Colby Kluthe, Executive Director-Daniel McCree Foundation on

Monday, August 20, 2012 at 3:56pm

(JOPLIN)

The KLIPTOWN YOUTH PROGRAM provides daily meals to 400+ youth as well as Computer Training Classes/Job Placement, After-school programs & tutoring services as well as HIV prevention services. Following my recent trip to South Africa, I suggested that our board of directors take action to commit our resources towards a non-profit organization located in the Kliptown neighborhood of Soweto, just outside Johannesburg. Kliptown is a village of 45,000 people who live in make-shift homes, share community water supply and is among the most at-risk communities in South Africa. On August 20th the Board of Directors, adopted the KLIPTOWN YOUTH PROGRAM until the end of 2012. The foundation will be donating $100 as a first installment directly to the KYP and all further donations to the foundation will also benefit this wonderful program. This program serves families that most likely live on less than $4 a day. The community shares common water supplies (for cooking and cleaning) and uses portable toilets dotted throughout the area for sanitary collection. The Kliptown Youth Program was established in 2007, and most recently sent 16 graduates into job-placement with computer skills. " This program is making a markable difference in the lives of the community and we are glad to be able to lend our support. Because this program serves the youth of KLIPTOWN it creates opportunities for those who grow up in the midst of such poverty." Additionally, South African inflation means that for every dollar we donate is converted to roughly 8 Rand. (Any small donations can make a huge difference coming from the USA) As I mentioned, we will be making an initial donation of $100.00 to the KYP and will send incoming donations to them as well (unless otherwise specified). The Daniel McCree Foundation board will meet again in December to discuss the extension of this support. FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THE KLIPTOWN YOUTH PROGRAM, you may visit them online or watch for updates on our Facebook and websites as we move forward in support of this great cause. http://www.kliptownyouthprogram.org.za/ Peace & Blessing Bee upon each of you!
