THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL (1982) There are those handful of precious, important films that have undeniably shaped countless childhoods. Steven Spielberg’s childlike view of an alien encounter is one of them. E.T. has already touched the heart of generations of young moviegoers and it’s barely over three decades old. While most sci-fi films since its release have been bogged down by CGI, E.T. remains a brilliant example that all the computer wizardry in the world means nothing if you don’t care on an emotional level. E.T. will always live in our hearts of moviegoers, both young and old, because it makes us care – and care deeply. 9/3 INDIANA JONES Trilogy As Sam, an oddball Buster Keaton wannabe, Depp displays his The three origianal and iconic movies that make archaeology a kick-ass profession. All three films, back to back to back. 9/7 POLTERGEIST (1982) This creative collision between Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Tobe Hooper is the real estate horror film of all time. This is The Great Ghost Story for this and all future generations, hitching up the Indian burial ground angle with a more current medium – the spectral jerks come through the TV! The film that made us all afraid to watch the tube will give you bumps on your arms and static on your set. Make sure to unplug your TV and dig all the corpses out of your back yard before you come to this show!! 9/8 the SECRETY SOCIETY of FILM-MASONS | Session XXI CALL ME LUCKY (2015) An inspiring, triumphant and wickedly funny portrait of one of comedy’s most enigmatic and important figures: Barry Crimmins. Directed by Bobcat Goldthwait, this documentary bravely tells Crimmins’ incredible story of transformation from a rage-fueled funnyman into an acclaimed proponent of justice who personified the healing power of comedy. 9/2 the SECRETY SOCIETY of FILM-MASONS | Session XXII TANGERINE (2015) The surprise film at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, director Sean Baker found his transgender leads near the Donut Time in the LA neighborhood and collaborated with them and other transgender sex workers to create the movie’s richly detailed, trash-talking characters and for its technical innovation; the film was shot entirely on several iPhone 5S cameras. It’s Christmas Eve in Tinseltown and Sin-Dee is back on the block. 9/9 the SECRETY SOCIETY of FILM-MASONS | Session XXIII CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND (1977) After an encounter with a UFO, Roy Neary’s mind is laden with visions and alien music. As more strange events occur in the area, it seems something big is about to happen. 9/16 the SECRETY SOCIETY of FILM-MASONS | Session XXIV ELECTRIC BOOGALOO: THE WILD UNTOLD STORY OF CANNON FILMS (2015) A one-of-a-kind story about two-of-a-kind men who (for better or worse) changed film forever. 9/23 THE COLOR PURPLE (1985) The movie was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, but lost in every category. However, it was a major success with moviego- ers, who were enthralled by then-newcomer Whoopi Goldberg’s portrayal of Celie, a young woman who finds her own identity and purpose in life after years of suffering at the hostile hands of a husband who treats her like a servant. The movie also brought attention to Oprah Winfrey, who was cast as the defi- ant Sofia. In 1985 Winfrey was still something of an unknown outside of Chicago and had yet to launch her talk show on a national scale. Goldberg and Winfrey were both Oscar- nominated, as was Margaret Avery, playing the saucy singer who helps Celie discover her inner strength. While it divided some critics, Roger Ebert hailed it as “the year’s best film”. 9/8 JAWS (1975) Early in the hot summer, a hungry shark is found prowling the waters of tourist-dependent Amity Island and it is up to police chief Martin Brody to hunt down and kill this deadly predator, with the help of a marine scientist and a grizzled fisherman who has seen this sort of carnage before. Steven Speilberg’s 1975 film (only his SECOND feature film!) created and per- fected the summer blockbuster, and much like THE GODFA- THER a few years earlier, elevated a sort of trashy paperback into High Art. 9/10 Free IFC: GOON (2011) A bouncer surrounded by brainiac relatives decides to prove his worth by leading a ragtag team of underdogs to hockey glory. Starring Seann William Scott and a tremendous supporting cast of Alison Pill, Liev Schreiber and Eugene Levy, GOON is a hilarious blast for the misfits among us. 9/28 KURT COBAIN: MONTAGE OF HECK (2015) Experience Kurt’s life, art, and mind through his own unique lens, bringing you as close to the generation-defining icon as it’s possible to get. This first-ever fully authorized documentary feature blends Cobain’s personal archive of art, music, written word, and never-before-seen home movies with animation and revelatory interviews from his family & closest confidantes. 9/1 Video Vortex: ANGEL OF FURY (1992) There are regular humans. And then there is Cynthia Rothrock. The star of over 50 movies and a 5-time undefeated World Ka- rate Champion, Rothrock is the planet’s foremost one-woman devastation squad. That’s why we’re beyond excited to screen this unhinged Indonesian battle-epic that pits Rothrock against Peter O’Brian aka Rambu, the Indonesian Rambo! VHS-only insanity projected from VHS for only $1! 9/29 COOTIES with Elijah Wood Livestream (2015) A chicken nugget contaminated with a mysterious virus infects a small town elementary school. As the virus spreads & the students become savages, the rag tag team of barely functional adults must try and save the day. 9/17 RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (1981) For nearly 3,000 years man has searched for the lost Ark of the Covenant. No one knows its secrets and it is protected by forces beyond your imagination. It is desired above all things by both good and evil men. An army with the Ark in it’s pos- session would be rendered unstoppable...that is unless someone else finds it first. Harrison Ford IS Indiana Jones in this Nazi- bashing romp around the globe on a race to find the lost Ark of the Covenant. White-knuckle action and sly humor created a masterpiece of cinema for the ages for all ages. 9/12 INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM (1984) Indiana is back in action and on to new adventures. After a deal for an artifact in Hong Kong goes south, Indy and his best pal, Short Round, are on the run with a whiny lounge singer they picked up along the way. When their plane crashes in a poverty stricken town in India, Indy takes it upon himself to investigate their case of missing children as he searches for some mystical stones. 9/19 INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE (1989) If you learned anything from Raiders of the Lost Ark, it’s that Nazis are bad dudes, and, after a pulse-pounding prologue that gives us a compressed Young Adventures of Indiana Jones, they are right back at it. This time, our swastika-wearing baddies are after the famed cup of Christ, and it’s up to Indy and his dad to save the day. 9/26 ATTACK ON TITAN PT 1 (2015) A century ago, Titans suddenly appeared on Earth. These titans soon drove human civilization to the brink of collapse. Hu- mans then built a giant wall to defend themselves. Within these confines humans lived in peace, but 100 years later the wall was broken. 9/30 & 10/1 Mondo x Chiller: NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (1984) Featuring a limited Mondo giveaway! One, two, Freddy’s coming for you. Three, four, better lock your door. Five, six, grab a crucifix… 9/30 Victory: KILL BILL VOL. 1 (2003) Want to see more tough ladies in action? Don’t miss THE KEEPING ROOM, starring Brit Marling & Hailee Steinfeld. Victory members are invited to this FREE screening! 9/24 GHOSTBUSTERS Quote-Along (2003) The iconic Bill Murray turns 65 years young on 9/21 and we’re celebrating the only way that we know how. Join us for a Movie Party classic and we’ll all wish Bill a very Happy Birthday. The Action Pack wants just wants remind you to please not cross the streams. 9/20 OLD SCHOOL Quote-Along (2003) Streaking is optional, but quoting along is required-- even the lines that require earmuffs-- and we’ll give out carrots for BJ practice. There might not be any live K-Y Jelly wrestling, but we can still guarantee that this quote-along will be crazier than that time you got hit in the neck by a horse tranquilizer gun. 9/21 Action Pack wants just wants remind you to please not cross JURASSIC PARK Quote-Along (2003) After this summer’s release of JURASSIC WORLD, the Action Pack is celebrating by taking us back all the way to the begin- ning... to a time when John Hammond had a simple dream of satisfying his lawyers and insurance agents so that he could open a park where man would once again be free to walk the earth with massive creatures that enjoy killing him while he’s hiding in the bathroom. So get in your self-driving electric jeep and pay attention to the plastic cup of water as you make your way to the theater, and prepare for a JURASSIC PARK experi- ence unlike anything we’ve ever done before! 9/14 CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND (1977) It has a beautiful sense of wonderment and imagination, yet is as thematically dark as anything Spielberg has ever done (yes, that includes SCHINDLER’S LIST and POLTERGEIST). On the one hand it’s about a man trying to discover the unknown mysteries of the universe to find a connection with another race. On the other, it’s about a man isolated from society by irrational obsession he himself does not understand. 9/16 SAVING PRIVATE RYAN (1998) Steven Spielberg’s haunting examination of the Second World War follows a group of U.S. soldiers that must go behind enemy lines to retrieve a paratrooper who is the last surviving Ryan brother after three have been killed in action. 9/22 TROOP BEVERLY HILLS QUOTE-ALONG (1989) Now, thanks to the Action Pack, we can all pretend that we’re part of the most fabulous group of Wilderness Girls in history at the TROOP BEVERLY HILLS Quote-Along! We’ll learn important life lessons like How to Do the Freddie, The Right Way to Wear Khaki and Avoiding Stylists Named Renaldo while quoting along with our favorite lines and, of course, singing along to everyone’s favorite dessert jam, “Cookie Time.” Your ticket also comes with a green beret (which you are welcome to bedazzle) and a sticker set of patches so you can feel like a real Wilderness Girl. This month’s Girlie Night will most definitely be a celebration of khaki riches and cookie dreams, so get ready to boo at those stinkin’ Red Feathers and prepare your best Rosa accent so we can yell, all together, “Patches? We don’t need no stinking patches!” 9/10 THE PRINCESS BRIDE QUOTE-ALONG (1987) “Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” Is there a more quotable line from ANY movie than that one? Well, that quote or maybe the whole “Mawwage” thing...or I guess the “As you wish” is pretty iconic, too. Oh gosh darn it! Every line in THE PRINCESS BRIDE has trans- formed from mere lines in a script to gospel that melts even the coldest of hearts. 9/23 MEAN GIRLS QUOTE-ALONG (2004) It’s a screening guaranteed to be even better than a cake of rainbows and smiles, so whether you’re a Plastic, a Mathlete or a Badass M.C., prepare yourself for a totally grool time. 9/28 SEPTEMBERG ALL SPIELBERG ALL SEPTEMBER LONG. THE ROOM with Greg Sestero LIVEActor Greg Sestero will appear live at the screening. Since co-starring in THE ROOM, Sestero has co-written the book “The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, the Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made.”

Whether or not Tommy Wiseau intentionally shot his film as a “black comedy”, or if he is simply a completely inept filmmaker (and actor) is utterly irrelevant. THE ROOM will stand the test of time as one of the most mind-bendingly awesome offerings to ever drop from the celluloid heavens.

Completely financed and distributed by Mr. Wiseau, this divine piece of WTF-ery has built a cult following playing midnight screenings across the country and solidified its place as an insanely unique phenomenon. The Guardian described it as a mix of “Tennessee Williams, Ed Wood and R. Kelly’s Trapped in the Closet.” That’s about as apt a description as we could possibly provide. 9/18

HOOK Dinner Party (1991)How big a deal was Steven Spielberg’s HOOK when it was filming in 1991? Stars like Michelle Pfeiffer, Tom Cruise, Demi Moore, Warren Beatty, Mel Gibson and Prince came to visit the set, just to get a sneak preview of Spielberg’s Neverland.

At the time, HOOK ranked just behind TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY as the most expensive film ever produced, so expectations were understandably sky-high. This whimsi-cal sequel to PETER PAN featured Dustin Hoffman as the malicious Captain Hook, Robin Williams as a grown-up Peter Pan and Julia Roberts, then the hottest name in the business, as Tinkerbell. 9/15
