posted on FaceBook that really hit me, and I shared it for others to see. “Church members get more upset over sound, temp and music styles than empty prayer rooms, altars and baptistries.” And I would add “empty pews.” Is that you? If so, then I am concerned. Church folks, it is not the Pastor’s job to grow the church, that is your job. Or I really should say, it should be your heart and concern to reach out to people and through that to grow the church. Are you more concerned about the temperature in your Sunday School class room and the Sanctuary for how comfortable you want to be? Rather than the empty chairs in Sunday School and the Sanctuary? This morning I read Isaiah 66:1 – 2 “Thus says the Lord, “Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool. Where then is a house you could build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest? For My hand made all these things, Thus all these things came into being,” declares the Lord. “But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.” What is your concern regarding your church and community? I pray that it would be about those who are not yet coming to the Lord and you will do what you can to reach them.
