Potentates Message, September 2019
Greetings Nobles, Ladies, and Friends of Aad Shrine! Well, here we are. September is here and the beginning of fall is not too far behind with the smell of fireplaces burning in the air, along with the cooler crisp evenings and the changes of colors. This also represents the beginning of fall sports such as high school, college and pro football games, along with the ending of the games of the boys of summer. This means that our Family of Fraternities are busy with many activities participating in the last parades of the year and welcoming new Masons and Nobles into our Fraternities. The upcoming months are filled with activities for Shriners. September 6th is the welcome party for Jerry and Peg Oliver. Jerry and his crew are cooking once again for our Annual All Masonic Barbeque on Saturday, the 7th of September. Friday, September 13th is the Annual Aad Shrine Golf Outing at Nemadji Golf Course, shotgun start at 1:00 PM. Call either the office or
me or Scott Abrahamson to set up sponsorship and teams. On September 15th the Annual Ladies Auxiliary Luncheon will be held at the Aad Shrine Temple. Please call the office for times and tickets. The 27th and 28th of September is the Annual Shrine Football Game in Bemidji. This year’s game will feature the Bemdiji Beavers hosting the UMD Bulldogs at a 4:00PM kickoff on the 28th. Prior to that will be the noon Parade step off. It would be great to see several of our members attending to cheer on both teams—Go BULLDOGS!
October is also busy. The 3rd of October we will be hosting our End of Summer Bash. The 8th is the Honored Ladies Luncheon; 10th of October will be the Fall Hospital Dads Dinner and the 26th will be the Hot Sands Ceremonial.
We have a lot of very dedicated, motivated and compassionate members of our craft. They range from those that selflessly dedicate their time to help put an event together, to the drivers that bring our Shrine kids to the Hospital and Clinic, to those that work tirelessly to raise funds to support the fraternity and our Health Care System for Children. To each and everyone of you I cannot thank you enough for the sacrifices you make daily.
I also want to recognize our wonderful office staff that keep our building functioning at a high level. Thank you for your daily dedication to the job of running the Aad Shrine Center with such care and professionalism. Thank you for all you do for us.
Fraternally Yours,
Kevin Baker
