It’s the perfect opportunity to fully acquaint yourself with the accounts of Our Lord and Savior’s time on Earth, the Church He established, and the earliest activities of that Church and its mission. Often, faithful Catholics concentrate on snippets of Scripture. They do derive great meaning from them but wouldn’t it be helpful to remember what happened directly before and after those particular verses? Catholic Radio in South Carolina is offering you an opportunity to augment your perspective on the Word. Just listen for three days and you’ll be able to pull together “the big picture.” While there is no substitute for actively reading the Bible, radio’s passive approach can supplement the process of learning the Faith. We invite you to join us for this special presentation and get to know the New Testament this November Daniel Island, SC – Bishop England High School is relaunching the low power FM (LPFM) station which was transferred to the school just prior to Covid-19 restrictions being imposed. According to officials involved, WBEI 102.9 FM will broadcast Catholic apologetics 24/7 along with local origination programming from Bishop England High School. The local programming will most likely include sports broadcasts as well as other events and interviews related to the school. The ultimate goal is to involve students in the production of audio content which will then be broadcast on the station. Low Power FM (LPFM) radio service was created by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in January 2000. LPFM stations are authorized for noncommercial, educational broadcasting only and operate with an effective radiated power of 100 watts or less. The approximate service range of a 100 watt station is 5.6 kilometers but can extend out to as much as a ten miles under the right circumstances. By FCC rule, LPFMs aren’t protected from interference by other classes of FM stations. To support the school’s station, the website is SCLPFM.com. Pope Benedict XVI named Robert E. Guglielmone, 63, to be the new bishop of the diocese of Charelston, S.C. The diocese has been without a bishop since Bishop Robert Baker moved to the diocese of Birmingham, Ala., in October 2007.

Guglielmone, who was ordained a priest in 1978, has spent most of his ministry in New York, where he was most recently the rector at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre, N.Y.

As the 13th bishop in the diocese, Guglielmone will shepherd nearly 200,000 Catholics, which make up about 4 percent of the state’s popula-tion. He will be installed as bishop March 25 at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Charleston.

On January 22, the U.S. com-memorated the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, which legalized abortion in our country. One third of our generation has been murdered by abortion since 1973; that’s over 47 million babies in America alone.

The battle for the unborn is truly our generation’s civil rights move-ment. Jesus is calling us to take up this cross in the 21st century and turn our society right-side-up. Following are some practical ways to be effective warriors for Christ in

the pro-life movement. Practice chastity

The number one thing our genera-tion can do for the pro-life move-ment is stay chaste and save sex for marriage. The Roe v. Wade decision was fueled in large part by the sexual promiscuity of the 1960s. The primary way to end abortion is to start a counter-sexual revolution: to restore the sacredness of sex to the sacrament of marriage and the procreation of children. Prayer and sidewalk counseling

You don’t have to be an adult to pray, hand out literature, or do side-walk counseling outside an abortion clinic or Planned Parenthood center.

EWTN, shrine pilgrimage renews faith and friendshipsA group of staff

and volunteers from WCKI 1300-AM took part in a recent pilgrimage to EWTN and the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament where they met with the former Bishop of Charleston, the most reverend Robert J. Baker, now Bishop of Birmingham.

After identifying themselves and their associa-tion with Catholic radio in South Carolina, Bishop Baker cheerfully posed with them for a group pic-ture commemorating the long and cordial relation-ship between himself and Catholic radio in South Carolina.

The 56 pilgrims spent the first of three days at

the EWTN stu-dios where they attended EWTN LIVE, hosted by Fr. Mitch Pacwa, with guests Sr. Briege McKenna and Fr. Kevin Scallon.

The second day began with Mass at the Shrine,

followed by inspirational talks, an outdoor rosary and stations, a heal-ing service and Benediction.

The final day was spent in Bir-mingham, with a visit to the Cathe-dral. Bishop Baker provided a history lesson on the origins of the Catholic faith in the state.
