Out of all the bands that emerged in the immediate aftermath of punk rock in the late '70s, few were as enduring andpopular as . Led through numerous incarnations by guitarist/vocalist Robert Smith (born April 21, 1959), thethe Cureband became notorious for its slow, gloomy dirges and Smith's ghoulish appearance, a public image that often hid thediversity of the Cure's music. At the outset, the Cure played jagged, edgy pop songs before slowly evolving into a moretextured outfit. As one of the bands that laid the seeds for goth rock, the group created towering layers of guitars andsynthesizers, but by the time goth caught on in the mid-'80s, the Cure had moved away from the genre. The fleet-fingered Ballard got his start singing Elvis songs with hisdad at the age of five and jokes that he shot his first music video in the family basement when he was seven.Obsessed with baseball and intent on becoming a professional athlete, Ballard didn't learn to play guitar until he was18, but once he did, it was full-steam ahead as he locked himself in his room for hours a day to master the instrument.He began playing in blues bands, juggling weeknight gigs with his weekend college baseball commitments. Eventually,music won out, and in the summer of 2008, Ballard won Kenny Chesney's "Next Big Star" regional competition inMichigan. He opened for Chesney at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids and at Ford Field in Detroit, which led to apublishing deal with Sony ATV, and a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records.

Nearly 20 years ago, Led Zeppelin introduced BBC Sessions, an acclaimed two-disc set of liveDescription:recordings selected from the band's appearances on BBC radio between 1969 and 1971. Later this year, the band willunveil THE COMPLETE BBC SESSIONS, an updated version of the collection that's been newly remastered withsupervision by Jimmy Page and expanded with eight unreleased BBC recordings, including three rescued from apreviously "lost" session from 1969.

BBC Sessions was originally released in 1997 and has been certified double platinum by the RIAA. THE COMPLETEBBC SESSIONS builds on that collection with a third disc that boasts eight unreleased performances. In addition, theset includes extensive session-by-session liner notes written by Dave Lewis. For the first time ever, it providesaccurate details and notes about all of the band's BBC sessions.

Musical highlights on this new collection include the debut of a long-lost radio session that has achieved near-mythicstatus among fans. Originally broadcast in April 1969, the session included three songs: "I Can't Quit You Baby," "YouShook Me," and the only recorded performance of "Sunshine Woman."

Also included are two unreleased versions of both "Communication Breakdown" and "What Is And What Should NeverBe." Separated by two years, the performances vividly demonstrate the young band's rapid evolution over a shortperiod of time.
