Since Korean Foundation for Quality(KFQ) is established as the first ISO certification body of management system in Korea, We have contributed to development of domestic industry and entering overseas market over the past 20 years by providing professional and impartial certification service to approximately 10,000 domestic and foreign companies.

In addition to certifcation services, we have been supporting green growth of domestic and overseas industries by offering verification service of domestic greenhouse gas emission trading scheme and validation/verification of domestic and overseas CDM.

Based on the know-how it has accumulated over 20 years, we are also striving to train customized human resources of various companies by offering education and training services that can respond effectively and quickly to the changing environment and diverse needs.

ISO?ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization, which is an independent, non-governmental international organization established in 1947, to facilitate the international coordination and unification of industrial standards.

Domestic GHG verification service (GHG·Energy statement verification service)

A place of business designated as a business (hereinafter, “object company for management”) which emits GHG on a large scale on the basis of the Low Carbon Green Growth Act is required to set up its target of GHG reduction, energy saving, and energy utilization efficiency, and the government manages the object company’s actual implementation through incentives and penalty systems.

The object company for management is required to prepare GHG·Energy Statement with a third-party verification report attached. KFQ is the first verification body designated by the Ministry of Environment as the coordination agency of Target Management System.

KFQ has been leading domestic GHG verification industries with issuance of more than 100 verification reports every year since 2011 when the Act was enforced.

Sustainability ReportSustainability report is utilized as a measure for meeting demands of self-evaluation and open data on organization’s increasing social responsibility and sustainability performance, by means of offering organization’s financial performance as well as non-financial performance to various interested parties.

By means of getting through an objective assessment on information, data on the report and relevant process by the third party, an organization can guarantee reliability of the report and competence for sustainable management.

KFQ has been supporting to secure reliability and accuracy of report by assessing the level of report and suggesting opinions since 2004.

CDMThe CDM(Clean Development Mechanism) allows emission-reduction projects in developing countries to earn certified emission reduction (CER) credits, each equivalent to one tonne of CO2. These CERs can be traded and sold, and used by industrialized countries to meet a part of their emission reduction targets under the Kyoto Protocol. The CDM promotes sustainable development and emission reductions, while giving industrialized countries some flexibility in how they meet their emission targets.

A designated operational entity (DOE) is an independent auditor accredited by the CDM Executive Board (CDM EB) to validate project proposals or verify whether implemented projects have achieved planned greenhouse gas emission reductions.

●�Validation: assessing whether a project proposal meets the eligibility requirements and subsequently request registration of the project by the CDM EB.

●�Verification/certification: verifying emission reductions from a project, certify as appropriate, and recommend to the CDM EB the amount of Certified Emission Reductions that should be issued.

KFQ, the first private DOE in Republic of Korea, has provided more than 200 CDM validation and verification services since 2006.

Other international GHG offset schemeA carbon offset is a reduction in emissions of greenhouse gases made in order to offset emission made elsewhere. Offset scheme describes systems and procedures that are used to certify and register carbon offsets.

Carbon markets exist both under compliance schemes and as voluntary programs. Compliance markets are created and regulated by mandatory national, regional or international carbon reduction regimes. The voluntary carbon markets function outside of the compliance market, and there are a variety of voluntary programs such as VCS(Voluntary Carbon Standard), the GS(Gold Standard), etc.
