RESPONSE TO GOD’S WORD

PRAYER OF INTERCESSION Aer each petition we enter into the prayer together with these words: Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

INVITATION TO THE LORD’S TABLE

PRAYER OF CONFESSION God of all, you love us beyond compare and are faithful to us even when we turn away. You are patient and wise, caring and just. We admit that we are not worthy of your love for us or deserving of your good favor. We have ignored your will, treated others of your children with disdain, and failed to be grateful for your mercy and blessings. Forgive us once again. Restore us to right relationship with you and with one another, for we ask it in Christ’s name. Amen.

WORDS OF ASSURANCE In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven! In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven! Glory to God. Amen.

As a forgiven and reconciled child of God, you are invited to give your offerings and gis to God by placing them in the offering plate when you come forward to receive communion.

… as we proclaim the mystery of faith: Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again. … now and for ever. Amen.

*THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

MEETING OUR NEIGHBORS: On Sunday, August 20, our children will be learning all about our neighbors from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Who are our neighbors? What does it mean to be a good neighbor? Aer a time of discussion and sharing, the children will make and package cookies that will then be hand-delivered to our neighbors. Elementary-aged children may be dropped off but we ask parents of preschoolers to stay and assist their child with cookies. A pizza dinner will be provided. RSVP to [email protected].

RALLY DAY IS COMING: At 9:45 a.m. on August 27th, we will be having our annual Rally Day kick off to the new school year. DISCIPLE CLASS RETURNING: Disciple Bible Study small-groups are forming now. Pastor George will be facilitating Disciple I on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. beginning September 18. For more information about the 30-week Disciple study or to register, visit www.fumcbelmont.org/disciple. Study manuals are available for purchase for $34.

POTATO DROP: Together with other UMC churches in our missional network, we will be participating in a “Potato Drop” from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, September 30 in the parking lot of Park Street UMC. The Society of St. Andrew will drop off 40,000 pounds of gleaned potatoes – perfect to eat but not aesthetically pleasing enough for a grocery store – that will be separated and bagged by volunteers. Bagged potatoes will then be delivered and donated to local charities by volunteers. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to work with other area churches and organizations and to show care and compassion by feeding the hungry. Visit www.fumcbelmont.org/missions/activities for more information to and sign-up to help.
