Background of Foundation

• Vodafone New Zealand Foundation established in 2002 as a charitable organisation to give back to the communities in which we operate

• One of 16 Vodafone Foundations around the world

• Funding comes from VF Group foundation and a percentage of Vodafone New Zealand profits are gifted to the foundation each year

• Total funds distributed in NZ approaching $5m

• Key programme has been the “World of Difference” Programme

• Foundation Directors – Neil Porteous –Chair and HR Director , VFNZ

– Richard Cheeseman ( VFNZ Employee)

– Angie Rota ( VFNZ Employee)

Foundation Focus

Mission Statement :

“Empowering vulnerable NZ youth create brighter futures for themselves and their communities “

• Key programme is the world of Difference Programme which has now supported 23 Kiwis to live their “Passion of the World around us”

• Previously provided substantial funding to the Royal NZ Foundation of the Blind to support their Talks technology , Spirit of Adventure trust, Project “K “ and Environschools.

• Now working with the youth sector to determine the best way forward and how we can make the biggest difference using the resources that the foundation can offer

• Dealing with 2 sources of funding – Vodafone Group Foundation and VFNZ

• Surety of ongoing funding form Vodafone Group foundation in an increasingly challenging market

• Balance between employee representation and external expertise

• Brand and Values fit with the recipient charities

• Corporate reputational risk
