HALLOWEEN:

Students may come to school dressed in their Halloween costumes Friday, October 30th, but. . . .

* * NO MASKS, SWORDS, KNIVES, GUNS, ETC. MAY BE WORN! * *

SAFETY TIPS: Walk, slither, & sneak on sidewalks – not in the street

Look both ways before crossing the street – check for cars

Cross the street only at corners

Don’t hide or cross the street between parked cars

Wear light-colored or reflective-type clothing

Put reflective tape on bikes, skateboards, & brooms

Carry a flashlight

Keep away from open fires & candles – costumes can be highly flammable

Only visit those homes that have the porch light on

Accept your treats at the door & never go into a stranger’s house

Use face paint rather than masks or things that will cover your eyes

Be cautious of animals & strangers

HAVE A GROWN-UP INSPECT YOUR TREATS BEFORE EATING. DON’T EAT ANY CANDY IF THE PACKAGE IS ALREADY OPENED. Small hard pieces of candy are a choking hazard for young children.

LYONS ELEMENTARY LOVES OUR STUDENTS!

STUDENT SAFETY IS OF THE UTMOST CONCERN!

PLEASE:

DO NOT SPEED – drive slowly & cautiously – children

do not always remember to stop & look for cars

DO NOT block driveways – be courteous of our neighbors

DO NOT park on sidewalks – blocking the sidewalk forces

children & parents to walk in the street, a safety hazard.

DO NOT drop students off in staff parking lot – use

designated drop off areas where staff are waiting to assist your children
