SEWALL WOODSCONSERVATION AREA
Conserved Property of theLakes Region Conservation Trust
Welcome to the Sewall Woods Conservation Area. This 179-acre woodland encompasses four parcels of land acquired by the Lakes Region Conservation Trust through tremendous work and generosity of landowners, donors, and volunteers. The property consists of the A. Denny McLean and Mary McLean McBride Forest, purchased in 1999; the Raymond Tuttle property, received as an extraordinary gift in 2000; the Munro property, purchased in 2003; and the Horn property, purchased in 2007 from a generous party who had acquired it previously to ensure it would remain undeveloped. This land, for many years cultivated by local farmers, is now conserved in perpetuity and provides scenic forest and wildlife habitat, year-round trails and recreational opportunities, and a quiet place for nature observation, all within a short walk of downtown Wolfeboro. The conservation of Sewall Woods is a testament to the spirit of volunteerism, generosity, and community pride in Wolfeboro. As you enjoy Sewall Woods, please respect its peace and beauty and the privacy and property rights of abutting landowners, and please reflect on the lives and legacy of the people who owned and worked this land and those who contributed generously to preserve this special place.
