EMBELLISHING A NATURE PRINT with Jan Navales MOTHER NATURE ALWAYS HAS THE BEST OFFERINGS… This class is very fun and very easy. Learn how to “nature print” and then use free motion stitching to embellish your artwork. If you have never done either, this is the perfect class to learn both. There are NO strict guide lines, no mistakes and your art can be big or little. We will discuss layouts and colors to help you make great art. You will be printing fabric using leaves, dry your print and then do free motion stitching on your finished piece. I will show you the easy secrets of doing both. The feel of the print has a soft hand and certainly is great for even a whole quilt. No heat setting, machine washable. This creative endeavor is wonderful for adding your very personal touch to bags & totes, borders for curtains, table runners and mats, wall hangings and what ever else your mind can think of. We are allowing 4 hours for this class. It may not take that long. Whenever I offer this class everyone wants to print more. Our goal is it to finish one small piece with border fabrics of your choice. Sunday, October 4 12:00 - 4:00pm $40.00

A SMOKIN’ STAYCATION with Sharon Stroud What is a "smokin' staycation", you ask? Just about the most fun you can have and still be home each night! We will start at 10:00am on Saturday, October 31, and work until 5:00pm. We will get up, leaving everything exactly where it is--no repacking, toting, and groaning. On Sunday, November 1, we return at noon and sew until 4:00pm! Lunch on Saturday is included in the class fee! The "smokin'" part? We will be making Sharon's popular Smokin' quilt top. Just three fabrics--easy peasy. Rotary cutting, machine piecing, pressing, food, chocolate, laugher--BEST staycation ever! Space is limited, so don't wait until the last minute to register. This would make a great "almost-last-minute" holiday gift! Saturday, October 31, 10:00am-5:00pm $70.00 (includes lunch) Sunday, November 1, 12:00-4:00pm

MACHINE QUILTING with Mandy Applebee Machine Quilting 1 (MQ1) Straight Lines In this class we will begin tackling the final step of finishing our quilts… the quilting. Using our domestic sewing machine we will begin filling our library of quilting designs. We will learn straight lines first with our feed dogs engaged. This class will also address some common questions and myths about machine quilting on the domestic sewing machine. Tuesday, Sept 29 or Saturday, Oct 3 1:00 - 4:00pm $40.00 Machine Quilting 2 (MQ2) Circles and Curves A continuation of the first class, we will begin exploring quilting FREE-MOTION designs on our domestic machines. This hands on class will work with the feed-dogs down and help develop your confidence and relationship with your machine. You MUST be able to use a darning or free-motion foot with your machine, and be familiar with how it works. Tuesday, Nov 17 or Saturday, Nov 21 1pm-4pm $40.00 Machine Quilting 3 (MQ3) Swirls and Vines Building confidence with free-motion quilting we will explore swirls and vines and build upon the design library. This class will add designs and skills from classes MQ1 and MQ2 and lay the groundwork for future designs. You MUST be able to use a darning or free-motion foot with your machine, and be familiar with how it works. Pre-requisite: Machine Quilting 1 and 2 Tuesday, Dec 1, or Saturday, Dec 5 1pm-4pm $40.00 Machine Quilting 4 (MQ4) Feathers 1 Now that we are confident with designs and moving with our free-motion quilting we will tackle the design that “frightens” people most….FEATHERS. We will explore different feather types and techniques to create them. We will learn to draw them first on paper and then with thread! Pre-requisite: Machine Quilting 1,2 and 3 Tuesday, Jan 5, or Saturday, Jan 9 1pm-4pm $40.00 Machine Quilting 5 (MQ5) background fillers The designs learned in this class are quite versatile depending upon the scale which they are quilted. I will teach you how to make them tiny to be used as background filler designs behind appliqué or to add interest to large open spaces, but most can be adapted to be larger and used as all over designs. Pre-requisite: Machine Quilting 1, 2, 3,and 4 Tuesday, Feb 2, or Saturday, Feb 6 1pm-4pm $40.00 Machine Quilting 6 (MQ6) Fancy Feathers 6 Now that we know how to make feathers in this class we will be learning how to “kick them up a notch” and deck them out and become works of art. Everyone loves feathers and it seems the fancier the better so with the help of a few relatively simple additions your basic feathers can go from plain to fancy. Join me to learn how!! Pre-requisite: Machine Quilting 1, 2,3,4, and 5 Tuesday, March 1 or Saturday, March 5 1pm-4pm $40.00

RECYCLED WOOL SWEATER MITTENS with Nancy Austin Want to make yourself the warmest mittens you will ever wear? This class is for you. These mittens are made in one afternoon and you will be using old wool sweaters that have been washed and felted. Felted wool does not unravel when working with it. The mittens are lined in soft fleece. “Accidently” shrink up one of your 100% wool sweaters or visit the thrift shop to get a sweater or two. The mittens take a small amount of felted sweater, so class members can trade wool pieces. If felting is too intimidating for you, a “pick your own pieces” kit of felted wool sweater pieces will be available from the teacher for $5. Each pair of mittens uses three coordinating pieces of wool. Price of the class includes the pattern. Sewing machine required. Sunday, November 22, 1:00 - 4:00pm $30.00
