    Captain Lazars Message

    Captain David Lazar

    Commanding Officer Central Station

    Super Bowl City

I am grateful for our local, State and Federal partnersin law enforcement and especially members of the SanFrancisco Police Department who all came together tomake Super Bowl City a successful event. Everymember of Central Station worked 9 days in a row, whether on patrol in the neighborhoods or at Super

Bowl City, making sure we were all safe. They did anincredible job. In the end, we had very few reportedincidents and over a 9 day stretch, we arrested 12people, primarily for public intoxication.

    Happy Lunar New Year

This week we celebrated the Lunar New Year-year of the monkey. This was kickedoff by a great event at the Hilton on Kearny Street. This is an exciting time and theofficers at Central Station have been preparing the plan for the Chinese NewYears Parade which is scheduled forSaturday, February 20, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.Because the Central Police District boarder expanded last July, we haveresponsibility for the entire parade, including the start at 2nd and Market Streets. Our message to those attending is to not leave valuables in your vehicle andsafeguard personal property. We had just a few incidents last year which wasntthat bad considering the size of the crowd.

    Memorial walk for Roy Mottini

There will be a memorial walk for one of our North Beach residents who recentlypassed away. The walk begins at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, 2016atBroadway and Montgomery. Officers will be on hand to ensure a safe andsuccessful tribute to Roy.

    Fire Alarm

This morning I witnessed a person press a fire alarm, falsely reporting a fire. Ithappened on my way to the station. I was traveling East on Pacific approachingMason and was waiting on the red light. I noticed a man standing outside of thelaundry mat and I observed he wasnt wearing any shoes. I saw him walk over tothe fire pole, remove the plastic covering, press the alarm, and then lean againstthe wall of the laundry mat. When he heard the sirens, he went back into thelaundry mat and began folding his clothes. I pulled over and when the firedepartment arrived, I called in some officers and we arrested the person.
