OUR NEW ROLE - Dear Friends, thank you for your prayers for us. We are settling into our new role as MTWmissionaries assigned to work at Tokai Community Church (TCC), a Cape Town congregation of the ReformedEvangelical Anglican Church of South Africa (REACH-SA). Many of you reading this already know about changes inour ministry but some do not so let us start with that. Just before our last Home Assignment John was asked to takethe position of TCC Partnership Coordinator. TCC has been our local church family for many years while Johnserved as an MTW regional director. Lindsay was part of the TCC youth ministry when she was living with us herebefore returning to the States for university. Susan has been teaching ladies' Bible studies and engaged in otherministries while John has led Bible studies and discipled men. We have also been part of community groupstogether. So it was a joyful prospect to join the TCC staff team in an official capacity.
MISSION TRIP - As Partnership Coordinator John is responsible to shepherd several TCC ministry partnerships thatcross economic and cultural barriers. One of our TCC partnerships is with Holy Trinity Church in the Botshabelo

cross economic and cultural barriers. One of our TCC partnerships is with Holy Trinity Church in the Botshabelotownship outside Bloemfontein, South Africa in the Free State province (see below). John recently had theopportunity to join a team from several Cape Town churches that went to the eastern Free State and to Lesothowhich gave the opportunity to visit the area for the first time. The group to which John was assigned ministered tochildren in the village of Thaba Patchoa (not too far southwest of Ladybrand on the map below or you can find it onGoogle Maps) and from nearby farms. (I might add that our team, WafaWafa, finished as the league champs but nothanks to me. ;-) The group that went to Lesotho helped train local pastors. After four days everyone came backtogether near Bloemfontein for a training conference. One of the highlights of the trip was the opportunity to get toknow Pastor Simon Sennanyane from Holy Trinity, Botshabelo (pictured below bottom right, on the right, leading aworkshop on ancestor worship). While I was largely an observer, particularly after pulling a calf muscle playingsoccer with the children, I did have an opportunity to preach and to lead some sessions on disciple-making in thechurch.
