Sharon’s First Home

She was born on July 29, 1945.

The town Sharon Creech was born in is South Euclid, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland.

She lived with her parents (Ann and Arvel), her sister (Sandy), and her brothers (Dennis, Doug, and Tom).

Early Life

When Sharon Creech was young she wanted to be many different things. Some of them include a painter, an ice skater, a singer, a teacher, and a reporter.

Later Life

Her first book was Absolutely Normal Chaos. It was based on her hectic life that she lived as a kid.

She is now married to Lyle Rigg, who is the headmaster of The Pennington School in Pennington, New Jersey. They have two grown children, Rob and Karin.

Education

While Sharon was in college she took some literature and writing courses.

She graduated with a Bachelors Degree at Hiram Collage in 1967.

She graduated with a Masters Degree at George Mason University in 1978.

Sharon Creech’s Inspiration

Usually Sharon’s inspiration comes by thinking of a family member or someone she saw at a bus stop.

Her inspiration for Walk Two Moons came from what a fortune cookie said: "Don't judge a man until you've walked two moons in his moccasins."
