Muncie Central has lost to HamiltonSoutheastern 87-82 and has defeated York-town 71-49 and Shelby County (Kentucky)79-64.

Guerin Catholic dropped back to backgames to Hamilton Heights and Tech lastweekend after opening the season with awin over Herron.

“Northwest has to be hungry for a win,”said Guerin coach Pete Smith. “They’reathletic and have a lot of experience backfrom last season. They will really be achallenge for our guys to stay in front on,and they are quick leapers.

“Muncie Central looked great for threequarters at Southeastern. I think they havetheir best team since 2011-12 when theywere No. 1 in the state in 3A heading intothe tournament. The (Phillip) Corthen kidhas always given us fits, and they have 6-6and 6-8 inside to go with him.”

Smith hopes to get his Eagles turnedaround.

“Our team is not playing as well as Ihoped, but I have to remind myself that wehave so many new faces at the varsity lev-el,” Smith continued. “Something glaringlymissing from last year’s team is a toughnessfactor we have to develop.

“I’m happy with the improvement JackHansen is making. It’s a big step goingfrom starting on the freshman team lastseason to varsity action. He’s making thetransition well.

“It will be great to have Cameron Lind-ley back this week. We missed his floorleadership last weekend, no doubt, and itchanges roles for several of our playerswhen he’s not on the court,” Smith added.

Christian Munson is leading the Eaglesin scoring with a 22.0 average, followed byHansen at 13.0 and Matthew Godfrey at12.0.

“They are a very good veteran team,” said Satter-field. “Coach (Doug) Mitchell has them playing verywell and unselfish.

“We will have to take care of the ball. Last year wehad a stretch where we turned it over half of our posses-sions during a four-minute stretch that we never couldrecover from. They have many weapons. Thus, we willhave to find a way to play great team defense.”
