Shining Stars Afternoon childcare for children who attend morning Nursery at Harvey Road School.!

!!Shining Stars Values At Shining Stars we offer children a safe, caring environment to grow as individuals and as a group. We nurture their strengths and build friendships on trust and kindness. We promise to share and respect all that is around us.!

!!Opening times:12-3.15pm (term-time only)!

!!Cost per sessionThe cost of attending Shining Stars will be £15 per session. !

Priority will be given to those children needing full time provision.

Each day will have a central theme and this time may incorporate music, library time, songs, arts and crafts, afternoon walks, visitors from local community and more. !

This activity will be followed by ‘free play’ where children are able to access the resources of Shining Stars independently. The day will end with a story and reflection.!

Whilst the children will be in the same environment all day, the afternoon session will contain a variety of different resources for them to access and play with.!

From September 2014, Harvey Road Primary School will open a brand new afternoon childcare provision called Shining Stars. This will provide a safe and stimulating environment for up to 15 children aged 3 to 4 years who attend the morning Nursery sessions at Harvey Road School. !

The children can take part in a wide range of interesting and challenging activities in both our indoor and large outdoor area. !

Shining Stars: !

•is open every day during term time !

•runs from 12 noon to 3.15pm!

During the afternoon, children will have access to a wide range of resources. They will be cared for and nurtured by staff who are skilled at engaging with children through talking to them, encouraging independence and inspiring confidence.!

Shining Stars will include play and planned activities that are different to the more structured morning session.!

Children will have a home-made lunch in the school dining hall followed by outside play. This will be supervised by dedicated Shining Stars midday staff.!

After lunch the children will be able to enjoy a quiet session of reading and relaxation, with the possibility of a nap time if required. This will be followed by an outdoor activity.!

There will then be a fun adult-led activity focussing on developing friendships and social skills. !
