brain cancer. She just opened, “The Rule Breakers

auction will be held, July 26, at Watts Buffalo

Community Center, Blacksnake Road, Watts Township.

entering it in the GPS. The auction will start at 9:00 AM

and continue until everything is sold. Roger Williams

has volunteered his time and staff to hold this Benefit for

Glenda. If anyone has any nice items that they would

like to donate for the auction to help raise funds for the

YARD SALE, July 19th, at the WATTS BUFFALO

COMMUNITY CENTER, to help raise funds for the

Center. There will be items for sale for the Center’s

benefit, and there will be spaces to rent for $5.00. You

must bring your own table and you keep all the proceeds

from the sale of your items. If you would like to donate

anything for this event, you can give the items the day of

let me know the items you have to donate, and also, to

rent a space. Set-up time is 6:00 AM, the yard sale starts

SATURDAY, AUGUST 16, 2014: MILLERSTOWN’S

POPULAR ANNUAL OUTDOOR FLEA MARKET

AND CRAFT SHOW will be held at the Millerstown

Community Park, 110 West Juniata Parkway near the

Millerstown Swimming Pool. It is just off the ramps of

Route 22-322 and will be held from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Flea Market vendors, yard sale individuals, craft vendors,

antique vendors, farm market and produce vendors and

businesses are all welcome to set up for the day with a

nominal fee of just $10. Over 100 vendors are expected.

No prior registration is required. Set up after 5:30 a.m. on

the morning of the show. Rain date is August 23rd. Food

and Beverage sales are reserved by the sponsoring

organization, Millerstown Community Success, Inc. For

EDITOR’S NOTE... It was a cold snowy day back in the winter of1986 that my husband Whitey and I were driving todeliver our original paper, the PennsylvaniaMusician Magazine, when he started talking aboutdoing a local shopper. At the time there was TheShopper based in Middleburg but it didn’t reallyreach down into Perry County. He rapped it all out in the space of an hour or so.We would call it The Shopper’s Remedy and itwould have 7 Remedy columns: Farming, Localevents, History, Recipies, Free classifeds and otherarticles of interest. We would feature a picture on

the front. At the time all 4 kids were home and Iwas struggling just getting the PA Musician doneevery month. Back then we didn’t have the benefitsof computer technology and putting a papertogether was time intensive. But he couldn’t let goof the idea so in July of 1986 we came out with thefirst issue of The Shopper’s Remedy. My sweet man is very creative but he tiresquickly of his creations and moves on. Meanwhileit’s my job to continue to develop his ideas andenjoy the fruits of his vision. I haven’t quite pulledoff his entire vision yet. I’m still lacking the articlesof interest and the front cover has turned into agreat spot to draw attention to our greatadvertisers and supporters but I’m workingtowards his original vision and I can see thebenefits of that type of paper. As I was working early this morning finishing upthe July 2014 issue, 28 years later, I can’t help butfilled bless that Perry and Juniata County folkshave allowed us to bring this paper to youmonthly. I work from my home and do as much oras little as I choose. There is always somethingdifferent going on and I can honestly say I amnever bored in this life. So THANK YOU forreading and using The Shopper’s Remedy. I am very thankful as well for the support ofour advertisers who have been with us for 28 yearsincluding RE Davidson & Son, Latchford Saws,Mabco1, and Mastrachio’s. I am very thankful toall the businesses in Perry and Juniata County andbeyond who continue to support our paper withtheir ad dollars every month. We wouldn’t bewithout their continued support as it takes moneyto produce a paper.
