We learned all the basics of computer programming, plus skills to help us master things we thought we already had–such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. All these skills are good to know! Labs 7 & 8 Dynamic Web Page Programming with JavaSccript In Lab 2, we learned about Microsoft word. First, we pasted unformatted text into our document and learned how to use the ribbon. From there, we made headings for each of the sections we had pasted into the document. We also learned how to make a table of contents without typing it all out. My favorite part was learning how to wrap text around an image. After that, we created a career plan for ourselves! We used all the skills from the first assignment to complete this. It was really cool to personalize our work! In Lab 5, we used Excel to make graphs and charts about stocks we chose ourselves. We looked up online all the information we needed, and then learned how to put it all into a chart. From there, we made a bar graph and a pie chart of the performance. Then we used PowerPoint to display it all! In Labs 4 and 5, we learned about how to use Excel. In lab 4, we created our own budget! We estimated our own personal spending and savings or made them up and learned how to use functions to calculate what our budget should be. We also learned how to make cool graphs so we could visualize our spending! Then we put could put it online. In Lab 6 we learned all about how to use Alice! All together, we made frogs jump into water (escaping a hawk!), with parameters depending on the size of the frog. We learned how to add frogs to the program, change their colors, and talk with each other! In labs 7 and 8, we learned how to make interactive webpages with JavaScript. In Lab 7, we made a page that asks for your name, age, and favorite social media sites. It will respond according to your answers. You can try it here: http://acsweb.ucsd.edu/ ~sml010/CSE3/Lab7/ SocialNetworks.html In Lab 1, we created a homepage to display what we were going to learn in the course. We used HTML to create a table with an image and text. From there, we made a link to a list of all the labs we were going to do, and every week we could update it! In Lab 3, we made a sample page of all the different tags we could put on text to make it look different! This included headings, lists, centered font, horizontal Labs 1 & 3 Making Information Available lines, an image we could click on linked to the Wikipedia page, and more! Once we finished with that, we could put it online in our list of labs. I used it as a reference a lot; it was very useful! On our own, we had to figure out how to use loop and if/else functions to make a clock tick! In Lab 8, we made a page about buying laptops. It had buttons to customize what brand, size, and processor for a computer to buy. The processor determined how expensive it was. On our own, we made an interactive Black Jack game! Try it yourself by going to my web page!
