Signature Windows & Doors Ltd was established to provide a personal service including design, supply and installation for customers who require contemporary high performance products as well as traditional sash and Side Hung Windows. We are known as specialist suppliers and have over 20 years experience in offering a complete turn key service. This includes showrooms, design, installation and technical support. Our customers include homeowners, builders and architects.

Our showrooms are in Rathmines, Dublin and Dunlavin, Co. Wicklow. Signature Windows & Doors is committed to providing high performance products, contemporary glazing screens and large opening sliding and folding doors.

The range also includes Sliding Sash traditional weighted windows and Flush Side Hung Windows to meet the demands of conservation requirements. In addition we supply Entry Doors and Aluminium Bi-Folding Doors.

In order to provide the best value and to give our customers confi dence we have established a partnership with our European manufacturers. This ensures that customers will get competitive quality products within consistent lead times.

The Signature Windows & Doors team of design professionals work with builders, architects and homeowners providing a large and bespoke selection of window and door products for their project, from the conservation and traditional to the extraordinary new builds.

We provide drawings of windows, doors and curtain walls for each project which allows clients to see how their window design will look. When needed, we can customise the windows to suit your individual project requirements.

Signature Windows & Doors recognises the need to limit our impact on the environment - respect for the environment is important to us. Sustainability is about responsible material sourcing, energy effi ciency, recycling, carbon emissions and life expectancy of products.

Responsible material sourcing. It is essential to consider how your windows are made and what they are made from Signature Windows & Doors is committed to the use of raw materials from sustainable sources, maximising the use of recycled materials and minimising the use of energy from non-renewable sources. Our timber comes from sustainable forests, from FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) accredited suppliers. All our fi nishes are water- based and eco friendly.

Energy effi ciency. Products used in the building construction can signifi cantly improve energy effi ciency and reduce running costs. Windows with low U-values are very important and Signature Windows & Doors can reach U-values as low as 0.78W/m2K.

Carbon emissions. Argon fi lled energy effi cient glass units maximise thermal gain, reduce thermal loss and refl ect heat back into the room in the winter time in order to drastically reduce the need for heating and therefore the release of CO2.

In the summer Signature Windows & Doors can be designed to reduce solar gain and increase natural ventilation, thus reducing the need for air conditioning.

Life expectancy of products. As our motto is ‘Windows for a lifetime’ we do everything to deliver this to our customers. Signature Windows & Doors and our manufacturing companies offer a comprehensive warranty of 10 years on all windows and doors.

As people are becoming more aware of their environment many are looking for natural products when choosing windows and doors for their homes. When choosing wood windows today people do not have to compromise on comfort or durability, choice of style, shape or colour. High quality wood windows and doors now offer style, comfort, warmth and durability to any home and are increasingly the fi rst choice of architects and designers.

Hemlock Oak

Our wood windows and doors are manufactured using only the highest quality knot free timber with a moisture content of 12% ± 2.

The pine wood used to manufacture our products consists of a minimum 60% heart- wood from sustainable forests in North Scandinavia where the trees grow slowly and naturally and no fertilisers are used.

We use only laminated triple-layer wood. Three layers are used because this technology prevents the window frame from warping and increases the lifetime of the windows. The outer layers are radial or half- radial cut and this method protects window surfaces from wood splitting.

(eucalyptus, larch) or exotic (hemlock, oregon, white saraya) timber

Windows and Doors

The Signature elegant European style inward opening windows are the most popular range in Continental Europe. Our Signature Fixed, Tilt only, Tilt & Turn and Side Hung windows offer easy cleaning & maintenance. If your project requires especially large windows or units with non-standard dimensions we can accommodate these requirements.

The Signature Side Hung and Top Hung window series open outwards allowing you to utilise all internal room space and providing good ventilation. The windows are made of triple - layered glue - laminated timber. Operable sashes can be double or triple glazed.

The Signature door series includes Entrance Doors, French Doors, Tilt and Turn Doors, Sliding Doors and Folding Doors. Lift & Slide Doors can measure up to 3 meters high and 6 meters wide allowing maximum light into the premises.

We have two types of Signature Entrance Doors – Classical and Flush Doors providing clients with virtually unlimited design possibilities

All product ranges are complimentary and can be mulled together.

SECURITY

All products are internally beaded which means added security because the glass cannot be removed from the outside. Enhanced security windows are tested and certifi ed as complying with BS 7950. Window restrictors are available to restrict opening of windows for child safety.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY Signature products are listed as being among the most energy effi cient. When triple glazed with a 42mm glass unit, our window can reach a U value of 1.0 W/m2K. The standard double glazed window reaches a U value of 1.5 W/m2K. This series also has “Passive Windows” with 110 mm wide profi les and U value of 0,78 W/m2K. Vents can be installed in the sash or frame of our Signature windows. All products have two gaskets ensuring an airtight seal.

SOUND INSULATION

Signature products can achieve acoustic values up to 48db.

OPTIONAL ALUMINIUM CLADDING The optional aluminium cladding greatly improves the life span of the product and reduces maintenance costs. Aluminium clad timber products are highly durable yet low maintenance and are ideal for harsh environments, high-rise apartments or where access to the windows is impaired. External aluminium can be powder coated to any RAL colour of your choice.

COLOURS Our fi nishing materials are environmentally friendly water-based surface coatings. The wide choice of lacquers and the RAL palette of paints allow us to obtain the desired colour effect whilst preserving natural beauty and warmth of wood.

The Side Hung opening windows can be mulled with all other Signature window types. The standard sash can open up to 60° and can be held open in any random ventilation position by an adjustable friction stay. Egress hinges are available which permit the window to open a full 90° for easy cleaning.

Our high performance sash windows are based on original designs, incorporating the latest technology to deliver the highest quality windows. With hermetically sealed double glazed units and a system of draught seals our sash windows are highly energy effi cient. Security of windows is very important as well – the glass unit is beaded internally and sash locks and restrictors are fi tted for night ventilation.

Our innovative and high performance sash windows can be used for conservation, renovations and new buildings. Sash windows can be decorated with glazing bars, which may be applied on the glass unit or fi tted between the glass panes. Bespoke versions of sash windows are available to provide exact replicas for conservation projects.

Opening options:

• Standard sliding sash

Two types are available – with weights or a modern system with spring balance. The modern system uses a spring balance to assist in lifting the sash. This new system benefi ts from a lighter overall window weight thus making it easier to install, maintain and less susceptible to damage.

• Inward tilting sash for cleaning

These windows operate the same way as standard sliding sash but have the added benefi t of allowing both the top and the bottom sash to be tilted inward to enable the cleaning of the window exterior. This removes one of the shortcomings of traditional sash windows.

When the inside space is limited and there is no possibility to use Tilt & Turn or Bi-Folding Doors we suggest Tilt & Slide or Lift & Slide doors where the sashes slide in front of a fi xed glass panel and stack perfectly within the door frame, providing a seamless transition from outside to inside.

Signature Entrance Doors allow you to turn your personal vision into reality, opening the world of possibilities, where design options are endless. We offer two types of Entrance Doors - Classic and Fush Doors. All our doors are supplied as complete door sets, with or without ironmongery, and factory fi nished. Our high quality external doors are thermally effi cient, attractively designed and low maintenance. We also supply a wide range of glazed and panelled timber and alu-clad doors.

The Flush Doors have more design possibilities than Classic Doors and the styles vary from modern to traditional. They are especially fi rm, stable and resistant to climate effects. The Flush Doors will not warp or deform because of their special construction.

We recommend Classic Doors in houses where there is no direct contact between the outside and the living area.

Door panels used by Signature Windows & Doors meet the European requirements of the highest tolerance. This is confi rmed by tests carried out by independent laboratories.

Security of the Entrance Door is one of the most important door characteristics. Both types of our doors are very secure – you can choose from the standard multi-point locking mechanism or even more secure other locking mechanisms: electronic locks and fi nger print detectors.

ADVANTAGES OF FLUSH

DOOR CONSTRUCTION

1. The outside of the door panel is covered with fi ve layers of moisture resistant, laminated veneer. Due to different layers these doors are resistant to external environmental effects.

2. Stable inner laminated timber cores prevent door deformation.

3. The polyurethane foam core construction ensures exceptional thermal performance and sound insulation.

4. A steel sash stabilisation system is integrated into the door panel through the whole perimeter of the panel and ensures the reliability and stability of the doors.

5. Four sided hardwood frames surround the door panel making it exceptionallyreliable and durable. The hardwood protects the hinge and lock systems mounted in the door panel, offering a secure fastening location for the hardware.

6. The highest quality 100% silicone gaskets are elastic, resistant to temperature fl uctuations and ensure especially good tightness, heat and noise insulation.

7. The new aluminium threshold has a special plastic insert that insulates against the cold and increases stability. The combination of hard plastic and aluminium ensures the durability of the threshold.

The quality fi nish of Signature wood windows is obtained using the highest quality ecological, water-based paints and stains. The fi nishing coat is elastic and moves with the wood as well as letting the wood breathe. It is a water-soluble, moisture resistant and fast drying fi nish with a long-term UV protection.

A wide variety of paints and lacquers are available to meet our customers’ requirements. All of our paints and lacquers are environmentally friendly, ecologically clean and harmless to the environment.

These fi nishes were chosen for their ability to show the warmth and beauty of the quality timber used to make our products and to protect the environment for future generations.

Glazing options

Today’s glazing solutions offer incredible potential to create environments that are comfortable, cost-effective and sustainable.

Signature Windows and Doors offer a range of glass units with performance characteristics that make it possible to specify the amount of sunlight, heat or sound that enters a room and how much heat remains. Energy effi cient glass (LOW E) with metal oxide coating refl ects 40% to 70% more heat into the room than clear glass, while allowing the full amount of light to pass through. Warm edge spacer bars may be added to improve thermal performance.

ENERGY SAVING GLASS UNITS

Low-E glass with non-toxic argon gas added offer a 20% improvement over regular insulated glass in reducing heat transmission. This means extra comfort and energy savings. It is also worth noting that 2/3 of all ultraviolet rays are blocked which protects the furniture and fabrics from fading.

SOLAR CONTROL

Solar control glass is used for reducing heat and/or light gain. There are several types of solar control glass:

NOISE REDUCTION

There are two main ways to control the noise coming from the outside.

1. One thicker glass pane (6,8,10,12mm) and a wider space between glass panes.

2. One thicker glass pane (6,8,10,12mm)and another of laminated glass (triplex).

Safety glass reduces the risk of personal injuries. Our safety glass units can be made of tempered and laminated glass.

As Signature Windows and Doors are extremely air-tight it is necessary to control the room ventilation. Homes which are poorly ventilated can have high levels of biological contaminants arising from mould growth on damp surfaces. This poor air quality adds to the general discomfort of living in such housing conditions, particularly for those with allergic conditions.

GLAZED IN WINDOW VENT

The revolving glazed in vent that is thermally broken by polyamide profi les strengt- hened with fi bre glass. It contains a con- tinuous adjustable sealing cylinder and an Airclip that can easily be detached for simple cleaning. The revolving cylinder can easily be removed from the housing without having to remove the vent from the window.

This vent can be any RAL colour.
