Dear Colleagues,

The strength and excellence of an institution of higher education are both revealed in a number of ways. Chief among these are the caliber of its Faculty and students; the success of its graduates; and the reputation it has built for itself over the years.

One key contributor to the reputation of a college or university is the intellectual output of its Faculty, in the form of published books, book chapters, journal articles, and research papers, as well as content in electronic resources. In that regard, we at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine have much to be proud of. Evidence of that is contained in our annual Faculty Bibliography.

As you can see in the following pages, our Faculty members have actively pursued publication. Numerous members of both our Division of Pre-Clinical Sciences and our Division of Clinical Studies were published authors during the past year.

The work reflected in this Faculty Bibliography makes for important – as well as fascinating – reading. It is something of which all of us in the NYCPM community can be proud. To my knowledge, no other Faculty among those of the other colleges of Podiatric Medicine in this country has produced such an impressive body of writing.

It is my hope that you will be moved to explore many of the books and chapters, articles and research papers listed in our Faculty Bibliography. Our thanks should go to our College librarian, Thomas Walker, for leading the effort to compile this bibliography each year.

The prime mission of our college is to educate, both in the here and now and also for future generations in the form of the written word. Utilizing the wonders of today’s technology, manuscripts are instantly available to professionals and the lay public, way into the far corners of the earth at the push of a button, literally until the end of time.

In today’s busy world it is so easy to become entrapped in the mundane tasks we must complete or all too frequently in the vicissitudes of life, that research and publication activities are relegated to the back burner. But in the end we are indeed a community of scholars, and your contributions towards the dissemination of knowledge are recognized and appreciated.
