CALI THROUGH AND THROUGHI was born in Harbor City and raised in Little Saigon, California. As a youngster, I played football and baseball and sang in choir all four years in high school. My whole life I have been in choir and I still sing in my church choir. As for my sports team; I love the Angels, Raiders and Lakers.

I served honorably in the US Army for six years and did several tours of duty in Iraq as a Cavalry Scout and Mortar Man. I’ve been training in Muay Thai for the last nine months and love it. Learning how to kick @$$ in a different way is one of the best things I’ve ever learned.

My beautiful wife, Stacey, and I have four great kids; Sandra (12), Marlon (11), Mia (8) and Zion (4). My kids are very active in after-school extracurricular activities and I love being very active in those. Sandra plays volleyball. Marlon plays chess and trains in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Mia also trains in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Zion does nothing – he’s too young.

Every day at Icon is new and challenging. I enjoy coming to work, because I learn something new every day. I hope to stay employed at Icon for many years to come. I want to send a shout out to Liz Brandon and Erick Benas!!! Thank you for believing in me.

God. Family. Country. Amen.

Who am I? My name is Eisen [eye-zen] Atuatasi and I’m part of Icon’s Loan setup team working in the scan room and indexing files.

I was born and raised in Orange County. I mostly grew up in Newport Beach and Huntington Beach. My family moved to Mission Viejo when I started High School, where I indulged in Soccer and Track. Right after high school, I started working for my family’s mortgage company and knew it was my career path. Here I am over 20 years later and still love it!

My most favorite thing about my life is being with my children. I am a mom of two wonderful boys. Their ages are Zane Lee 5½ and Kingston Lee 3½. When I am spending time with them, it’s all about remote control cars, nature walks looking for bugs, practicing spelling and math and of course anything dealing with being outside. My immediate family lives very close and we spend lots of time with my folks.

I am a real “foodie”. Anytime I can watch the Cooking Channel or Food Network, I do. I took a couple of cooking classes in college and got the

bug. I like to make anything from Greek yogurt (made in a pillowcase) to catching my own fish and enjoying it barbequed or grilled. I also, like to use fresh herbs, fruits and veggies from my garden to accompany my meals.

I really enjoy reading! My favorite genre to read is anything relating to physics. Yes, I am an undercover geek, but I can’t help it. Learning about Quantum Mechanics, Astrophysics and Cosmology are a serious passion of mine.

Photography and jewelry making are few of my hobbies. I concentrate on taking photos of nature and trying to bring out the depth and beauty, I see. Jewelry making has been a great creative outlet for me. I actually turned it into a part-time business after I had my children. Of course, leaving little beads around the house wasn’t such a good idea once they started to walk. So, now I just make jewelry for myself.

Lastly, I am honored to have been asked to share with my Icon family a little bit more about me. I love coming to work every day at Icon. I have experienced many growth

opportunities personally and professionally here. This is the place where opportunities abound and the people are like family to me. I am so excited to be on this journey with all of you. Positive people, get positive results. If you know anything about me, you know I am a very positive person and I am always smiling!

Who am I? My name is Nicole Lee. I currently work in the Underwriting Department and I am also a part of the IQ2 Users Group and a SME at Icon Residential Lenders.

An improving US economic outlook and increased optimism about Europe were unfavorable influences on mortgage rates this week. Fed purchases of mortgage-backed securities (MBS) under QE3 helped offset the losses, though. As a result, after several weeks of declines, mortgage rates ended the week just slightly higher. Friday’s Employment report was the big news this week. Against a consensus forecast of 120K, the economy added 114K jobs in September, but the data from prior months was revised higher by 86K. The Unemployment Rate unexpectedly dropped to 7.8%, the lowest level since January 2009, from 8.1% last month. Average Hourly Earnings, an indicator of wage growth, increased moderately from August. Any way you look at it, the September data exceeded expectations. This increases future inflationary pressures, which is negative for mortgage rates.

The results for the change in the number of jobs and for the Unemployment Rate are derived from different pools of data, and sometimes the two sources show wide discrepancies in a particular month. The Unemployment Rate is based on a survey of a small sample of households, and it can be extremely volatile, while the Payrolls data is based on information collected from businesses and tends to be more precise. This month, the household survey showed a gain of 783K jobs, which was the highest level since 1983, and far above the increase seen in the Payrolls data. Over longer periods, the two sources generally show similar results, but not necessarily in the short-term.

Global central banks continued to add monetary stimulus this week, which was favorable for US bonds. The economic data was roughly neutral. As a result, mortgage rates ended the week a little lower.

On Wednesday, the Bank of Japan (BOJ) announced that it will increase its level of monetary stimulus, following simi-lar recent moves by the Fed and the European Central Bank (ECB). The goal of the central banks is to boost economic growth and to reduce joblessness. The primary tool used by the central banks is bond purchases. The increased demand for bonds, including US mortgage-backed securities (MBS), from central bank purchases has helped push mortgage rates lower.

The housing data released this week continued to show improvement in the sector. August Existing Home Sales rose 8% from July to the highest level since May 2010. August Housing Starts increased 2% from July, and Building Permits for single-family homes rose to the highest level since March 2010. The September NAHB Home Builders confidence index rose for the fifth straight month to the highest level since June 2006.

Next week, the Fed’s Beige Book will be released on Wednesday. Import Prices and the Trade Balance will come out on Thursday. The Producer Price Index (PPI) focuses on the increase in prices of “intermediate” goods used by companies to produce finished products and will come out on Friday, along with Consumer Sentiment. In addition, there will be Treasury auctions on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Mortgage markets will be closed on Monday in observance of Columbus Day.

September 28, 2012 at 8:00 AM EST, the news went public. Rushmore Loan Management Services (“Rushmore”) signed an agreement to purchase ICON Residential Lenders. From Mortgage News Daily to Yahoo! News, the announcement was out on the wire. But that’s not the “Moment in Time” I am referring to… go back with me 15 hours to our Town Hall meeting.

“Big Al’s gone.” He continued, “That’s what they called my dad. Big Al.” Not the typical opening one would expect from the newly appointed CEO of ICON. Known for his story telling, Andy proceeded to share with everyone a touching story about the death of his father. Now, for those of you who couldn’t attend, you may be thinking, “sounds like a downer”. Let me tell you firsthand that it wasn’t. Not even close.

I pose the question, “Have you ever had a teacher or professor that was non-traditional in their thinking and it carried through to their teaching?” That’s Andy. You may not understand at the beginning of class where the dots are connected, but I guarantee by class-end you will and you will be moved; better yet, motivated.

On April 21st, 1999, Andy could have stopped living emotionally, spiritually and professionally, but he didn’t. In fact, it was on that very day that Andy started living – a re-birth if you must. Andy’s

story of his father’s death was not to give us, the audience, a glimpse of who he is – though it accomplished that as well – but it was shared to give us hope. It was shared to motivate. It was shared to remind us all that it’s normal to fear change but change is often needed to move forward. continued on p.6

While Memorial Day is a day to honor those who died while serving our nation by remembering the

sacrifice they made, Veterans Day pays tribute to all veterans, both living and deceased. Public observances vary from small town parades with local veterans riding on floats to an official wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery.

Although most Americans are aware that the Tomb of the Unknowns is a monument dedicated to unknown soldiers who sacrificed their lives defending America in World War I, War II and the Korean War, most Americans do not know the degree to which soldiers go to honor these veterans. Since 1948, soldiers have guarded the Tomb of the Unknowns 24 hours a day, 365 days a year regardless of weather.

The soldiers bravely remain at their posts, just as they stayed on duty during Hurricanes Isabel and Irene as well as the 2010 blizzard

which shut down the capital for days. Tomb Sentinels have the option of standing their watch over America’s fallen heroes under a tent when it rains, but they have consistently declined to do so.

Fewer than 20 percent of all volunteers are accepted for training and of those only a fraction pass training to become full-fledged Tomb Guards. Considered one of the highest honors to serve as a Sentinel at Arlington Cemetery’s Tomb of the Unknowns, this inspirational picture is a reminder of the service soldiers provide and displays the true honor, courage and commitment of the United States Military. The Guards of Honor at the Tomb of the Unknowns are highly motivated and proud to honor all American service members who are “Known But to God.”

On this Veterans Day, we would like to thank all the men and women who bravely served and sacrificed for the freedoms we have today. We are proud to honor you.

The One Thing You Can’t Do In Heaven By Mark Cahill

this was a very impactful book it transformed my walk with the Lord and got me off the sidelines and in the game sharing my faith. god’s timing was perfect because i realized that this book would lead me to my next spiritual phase with the Lord and it all had to do with sharing my faith. if you feel stagnant in your walk, i would encourage you to share your faith. god will show you a real miracle – that’s watching someone go from death to life. Not only that, but you get a part in it because god is using you to save another. the Bible says that He wishes no one will perish. this book will equip you with some very practical ways to share your faith and also some stories that will defiantly pump you up. Remember we don’t have to be called to be an evangelist to witness – it’s a lifestyle and more so it’s a testimony of what the Lord has done in your life. So enjoy the book and enjoy the fruit that comes from sharing your faith.

witnesses to us; for after he had said before, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” then He adds, “Their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin. Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching”’ (Heb. 10:11-25 ). Now because of Jesus’ finished work on the cross for our sins, we have hope.

Our hope is that we now have access to God. “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:14-16). And not only do we have access to God, but he has also blessed us by giving us His Holy Spirit to

Fearfully Made

Rick Morgan

I am a miracle.More about that

in a moment. First, some background: I was asked barely a week ago if I wanted

to start writing this column for the newsletter, rather by surprise, because I’d had no idea that a newsletter was even being planned.

I suspect that there are a number of reasons why I was given this honor—and it is an honor—and I was more than happy to take on the challenge. I think that, secretly, the editors asked me because they know that I have a lot to say and that, if I wasn’t given an outlet, I’d explode. There could be some truth to that.

OK, so I was all poised for intros when I “happened” to see a short video over this last weekend called HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD. I’d had it for a few weeks; there it sat by our TV, not only unwatched, but still sealed.

Cue Divine Appointment.Louie Giglio, who conducts the Passion Talk

Series, of which HOW GREAT is one disc, took me on a journey from the far reaches of

the cosmos right down to the very core of my human

body.

Here’s the thing: The Cross of Jesus Christ bookends

everything in between. Giglio passionately showed me, in very graphic form, how tiny

this planet of ours really is within the cosmos. In the far reaches, the image of the cosmic Cross was taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, and is revealed across the nucleus of the spiral galaxy M51, 1100 light-years away from us. (Light travels at 186,000 miles per second. You can either do the math, or get a copy of HOW GREAT.)

Of course, scientific description doesn’t refer to it as The Cross, or even a cross but, rather, an “X”. A cross would run counter to the common scientific school of thought that the Universe couldn’t possibly have been created by the Eternal God. Put ‘em on the Prayer List.

No, I am vastly more awed to think that I’m looking up at the Cross of Christ from the vantage point of just under His left side. More humbling. More comforting.

Meanwhile, deep within my body. . .Ever heard of laminin? I hadn’t, either when,

last fall, a former co-worker told me about it. Put in the context of HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD, it’s nothing short of mind-blowing, and I’m left with the thought that I simply don’t know how people go to bed at night without a rock-solid belief in God and the salvation brought only by the death of Christ on the

Cross.Laminin is, very simply put, a protein

that, as Giglio describes it, is the rebar that holds the human body together. I’m not going to do laminin justice here; suffice to say that it involves DNA

and molecular structure. You can watch a part of Giglio’s sermon on laminin on

YouTube. All of this is open to interpretation, of

course; scientific and/or secular thought will explain it all away in a non-Creation way. Even Snopes weighs in. Once again, pride runs amuck.

We as Christians, of course, know The Truth. The bottom line is that, to quote Giglio, I am fearfully and wonderfully made. We are made with perfect order. And God will and does hold onto us in the palm of His Hand and will always, amid the pain and confusion, hold us together with His unfailing Love and get us through our temporary circumstances, giving us the strength to take one. . more. . step.

God does not abandon His miracles. I am a miracle. And so are you. •

“The Cross of Jesus Christ bookendseverything”

By that time, it was too late to recoup the past and the time lost. After my wife was forced by property management to leave our residence, i followed in attempt to save whatever was left of my marriage. Unfortunately, i was alone in that attempt, which left me homeless.

My wife moved in with her mother and i moved in with the trash. My new place of housing was behind a dumpster in an alley of a strip mall. in a new pursuit of happiness i started attending a local church.

Rinse CycleApril 2010. i was doing laundry at the local laundrymat with my last $2, when all of a sudden an old friend walked in. i was asking him about one of the local businesses and where they had moved to. i remember one of the guys there being in love with the Lord and sharing about it.

After findng their new location i was welcomed with a love that gave me hope again. the company had a shower and bunkbeds put in the back for people in my situation. they helped me get my i.D. and even lined me up with employment at a local deli. All the employees pitched in to get me a bus pass and even donated their clothing.

everyday i go there and read the word of god, get into Bible studies and do worship with all the employees. i have tasted His love and now i go out and share His love within the homeless community. My relationship with the Lord has grown tremendously and continues to grow daily.

Access to GodThe Power of Prayer

Dave Hellman

Have you ever wondered what the point of prayer is? Is there really a God who loves you and hears your prayers or are

your prayers in vain? Here at A New Beginning Financial and Ministry we believe there is a God who cares and answers prayer. And because of that belief we aim for prayer to be at the core of all we do. In the remainder of this article, the hope is that your faith in Jesus will be strengthened, and that you will join us in crying out to Him.

So why do we pray? To answer this we first need to look back to how our ancestors communicated with God. The first man and woman, Adam and Eve, at one time had direct access to God in the Garden of Eden. Then they sinned by eating of “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil” (Gen. 2:17, 3:6) which brought about physical and spiritual death to all of humanity (Rom. 5:12). God gave hope by promising a future Messiah (Gen. 3:15), and provided “tunics of skin” (Gen. 3:21) which pointed ahead to the need of Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins. A downward spiral followed Adam and Eve’s sin with them being driven out of the garden (Gen. 3:24), Cain murdering Abel (Gen. 4), Lamech having

multiple wives, and killing a young man (Gen. 4). Then hope was given again by Seth’s birth, providing a Godly line for the Messiah to come through, and his son Enosh’s birth, in which “men began to call on the name of the LORD” (Gen. 4:26). This can be seen as the first Biblical revival.

Sin continued to devour people’s lives, with a Godly line being preserved, in which Jesus the Messiah came through. Up until Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, the high priest was the only one who could approach God

on our behalf once a year. Animal sacrifices were offered for people’s sins, which could never take them away, but only provided a temporary covering. And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man [Jesus], after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, form that time waiting till His enemies are made his footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. But the Holy Spirit also

The Neverending Pursuit2009... the new year rolled in and i was venturing into business for myself. i had opened my own painting company; painting houses, offices, city walls, etc (if it could be painted, i could paint it). i already had many clients and was still building clientele.

i always had drug habit, but it wasn’t a problem - until i let my drug dealer rent a room from me. Her currency for rent was drugs. By mid 2009 it had all gone downhill - my wife and i were fighting for our shares of the drugs, which eventually led to manipulation and chaos.

My focus was no longer providing for my wife and i, but an all out pursuit for the next high. the pursuit tore apart our love and friendships with close friends, including our dealer. My wife started stealing anything she could to get the drugs.

Welcome Home-lessin the beginning months of 2010, i had decided get sober and kicked out my dealer, which caused major issues with my wife and i. My wife was so involved with her new love (the drugs) that we were on the verge of splitting.
