he )C* *mmunition able primarily applies to the )C* Inter-ace Standard -or 'aser =ngagement, describing ho/ to communicate a simulated /eapon engagement -rom a /eapon simulator plat-orm to a
target simulator plat-orm.
he )C* *mmunition able de-ines the type o- ammunition used in primarily optical communication o- asimulated /eapon engagement. he subseuent assessment o- the simulated e--ect on the target is notpart o- this *mmunition able and thus it has to be separately de-ined. he intent is that the ammunitiontype o- a simulated /eapon engagement is abstracted -rom the target simulated e--ect e+aluationG i.e.direct -ire optically simulated engagement may be complimented or replaced by another type o-communication /ith the same inter-ace reuirements to maintain the coalition interoperability ob?ecti+es.

here is a reuirement -or coalition training o- de-ense -orces. Beapons e--ect simulation has in the pasttypically e+ol+ed /ith national training reuirements resulting in proprietary speci-ications satis-yingspeci-ic national needs. he *mmunition able primarily re-ers to a laser simulated engagementmethodology -or direct -ire /eapon simulation used -or e.g. gunnery and combat training. he realizationo- training speci-ications across coalition plat-orms enables interoperability in a li+e ground training en+i(ronment.
1!6 Ob8ecti'e
he primary ob?ecti+e o- the )C* *mmunition able is to establish a speci-ication -or the communi(cation o- a laser based simulated /eapon engagement in a training en+ironment. he intent is to prescribethe use o- a number o- classes o- ammunition types -or simulating direct -ire /eapon systems.
he )C* Inter-ace Standard -or 'aser =ngagement speci-ies ho/ the di--erent /eapon simulatorsinteract on the e"ercise area. *ll simulators on the e"ercise area ha+e to -ollo/ the speci-ication, toensure that simulators can interoperate properly. he reuirements in the )C* Inter-ace Standard -or'aser =ngagement and the )C* *mmunition able are speci-ically important /hen di--erent /eaponsimulators -rom di--erent manu-acturers shall interact on the e"ercise area.
