In February 2014, Technip chartered a new constructionvessel on a long-term basis from DOF Subsea, fordelivery in 2015.

The Skandi Africa is a newbuild DP class 3 constructionsupport vessel, designed for harsh environment anddeepwater subsea construction and flexlay operations, upto 3,000 m depth. She is fully equipped with a 900 Teactive-heave compensated main crane, 650 Te Tiltable LaySystem, large 2,700 m2 deck area, under-deck storagecapacity of 3,500 Te and two work-class ROVs rated for4,000 m water depth.
