State Officer Training This leadership training is offered to all State Officers and National Officer Applicants. Training includes SkillsUSA National Leadership and SkillsUSA Conference (NLSC), June A showcase of career and technical education students. More than 20,000 people, including students, instructors, and business partners from across the United States. Participation is a week- long commitment. SkillsUSA mission is to help its members become world-class works and responsible America citizens. SkillsUSA complements technical skill training with instruction this that is co-curricular and integral to CTE programs making a well-rounded worker and citizen. Founded in 1965, the organization has served more than 12.2 million workers through active partnerships between employers and educators. SkillsUSA is endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and state department of education and is cited in federal legislation as an integral part of career and technical education. Our Membership SkillsUSA has approximately 18,500 school chapters in 53 state and territorial associations and serves more than 400,000 members annually. More than 19,000 instructors and administrators are professional members of SkillsUSA. Our members are known in their institutions and communities as leaders and skilled professionals in training. In Texas Postsecondary we have a membership of over 1,000 students and 350 advisors and administrators. We continue to grow these numbers every year. An Applied Method of Learning SkillsUSA is an applied method of learning where students practice skills and build self confidence while helping their schools and communities. SkillsUSA provides experiences in leadership, teamwork, citizenship, and character development. The program emphasizes high ethical standards, superior work skills, lifelong education and pride. These are qualities employers’ value and look for when hiring or promoting workers. School-Based Programs and Resources SkillsUSA offers materials and programs to help students develop as individuals, employees and citizens. The Career Essentials Suite teaches workplace skill competencies in a series of hands-on self-paced lessons in an online format. These products ensure your students have the foundational skills, attitudes and values to distinguish them from other applicants in the skilled labor marketplace. The SkillsUSA Career Essential suite is the solution to your needs in producing career-ready graduates who are prepared for 21 st -century demands of employers. The Career Essentials Assessments program provides a path to other professionals’ certifications and pave the way ahead for our future workforce. The Chapter Excellence Program recognizes achievement as it relates to the integration of the SkillsUSA Framework in chapter program of work activities. Every chapter is encouraged to participate in CEP and there are three award levels to recognize program involvement. Implementing CEP can result in benefits for members, instructors/chapter advisors, and for the chapter, campus and community. The President’s Volunteer Service Award is offered in recognition of sustained service. Recipients receive a lapel pin, certificate or congratulatory letter from the president of the United States. Candidates must document hours served. Our Partners Nationally, SkillsUSA enjoys support from more than 1,500 corporations, business, associations and labor unions. These sponsors support SkillsUSA financially and with in-kind contributions because they believe in our mission. The SkillsUSA Foundation is SkillsUSA’s philanthropic arm. The foundation is comprised of representatives of business, industry, organized labor and interested parties. In addition to this operating support, funds raised support SkillsUSA’s mission-related programs and events, including the WorldSkills Competition.

The activities and projects – the plan of action – that your chapter will carry out through the school year. The SkillsUSA program of work includes: • Professional Development • Community Service • Employment • Ways and Means • SkillsUSA Championships • Public Relations • Social Activities

SkillsUSA Championships

SkillsUSA Championships The SkillsUSA Championships brings together industry and labor representatives, educators and the public to watch students compete in leadership and skilled events for a full day. The SkillsUSA Championships begin at the State level with contest in colleges nationwide. Winners advance through regional and state competition, and the best of the best make it to the National event. Student’s benefit no matter if they get first or last in their contest. Their skills are tested, industry relationships are made, and they are given a chance a state recognition. Regional, state and national winners receive gold, silver, and bronze medallions, scholarships, certifications, tools, and other awards. The National SkillsUSA Championships occupies a floor space equivalent to 16 football fields of space, with nearly 2,000 judges and with 7,500 competitors in over 100 different events. Business and industry partners contribute more than $38 million in equipment, supplies, and personnel to support the SkillsUSA Conference. This event is considered more the largest single day commitment of corporate volunteerism in America. Every other year, a select few are chosen to compete on an international level in the World Skills Competition. SkillsUSA Championship Regulations The official regulations for the national events are published online in the SkillsUSA Championship Technical Standards free to download to anyone with a professional membership.
