Almost 400 years tradition, high quality of our steels, expert skills of our employees which go from one generation to another, own development continuously pursuing market equirements and futureoriented investments into technical progress are the reasons why the company Metal Ravne is the name you can trust.The company is part of the Slovenian Steel Group (SIJ – Slovenska industrija jekla) which is a member of the Group IMH – Industrial Metallurgical Holding, a vertically linked international cluster of companies. Our own Steel Plant, Forging Shop, Rolling Mill and a wide range of heat treatment and machining processes allow us to produce a rich pallet of more than 200 steel grades in different dimensional shapes, from carbon and alloyed structural steels to tool and special steels

in the form of rolled and forged products. Products are made in accordance with international standards and they are provided with corresponding certificates. We are aware that indicators like 1000 employees and almost 90,000 ton annual production range us globally in the group of mini mills.Therefore, we found our opportunity in the so called niche production

which is characterized by specific knowledge and experience, larger flexibility and higher added value. Accordingly, the scope of our production and sales have been continuously rising.

We are concentrated on developing specific knowledge and skills. At the same time, we build our future also on modernization of our machinery. Strategic investments like the new Forging Shop for heavy forgings, the new Rolling Mill for heavy sections and a

modern Teeming Pit indicate our extended offer to our customers. Continuous improvements allow us to come closer to the requirements, wishes and expectations of our suppliers, customers, employees, owners and also the environment we live and work in. With such

commitment towards our partners and the environment, we were among the first Slovenian companies that acquired the ISO 9001 quality certificate and the ISO 14000 group certificate.

This program joins two key production sectors: Steel Plant and Electroslag Remelting Plant.

The basic plant in our Steel Plant is 45 t UHP - electric arc furnace: There is also a vaccum ladle furnace, while the most modern Teeming Pit will guarantee a high-class conventional ingot.

The Electroslag Remelting Plant features two large 36 and 50 ton ESR plant and a smaller one of 3 ton.

The Rolling Program joinst three production units: Billet Rolling Mill, Section Rolling Mill and Steel Drawing Plant.

The Billet Rolling Mill uses a modern Blooming rolling stand in addition to many modern heat treatment furnaces, and grinding and testing machines.

The Section Rolling Mill can produce round, square and flat sections of various dimensions in its Intermediate Rolling Mill and Rod Mill.

In addition, we have modern heat treatment furnaces, machines for straightening, cutting, sandblasting, varnishing operations and for inspection of rolled products.

The Steel Drawing Plant produces products with a drawn, peeled or ground surface.

In our Forging program, we produce forged products:

forged billets, forged rods and forgings of different surface versions.

For smaller dimensions, we use the SX-40 forging machine, while larger ones are made on presses. We have 12 MN, 25 MN and 40 MN presses.

All these products can be subjected to heat treatment in modern heat treatment furnaces using different procedures.

The important part of our Forging Program involves machines for machining and cutting of material.

In addition to products with unmachined surfaces, we can also make products with bright surfaces using the method of peeling, turning and milling. All these products can be cut into the required dimensions.

STANDARD DIMENSIONAL PRODUCTION & SALES PROGRAM:

Forgings: Machined forgings produced by Metal Ravne include rolls, shafts, mandrels, sleeves and bushes, rings and plates. The advantages of machined forgings are shared by both customer as well as producer:

• more accurate US analysis,

• surface free of defects,

• elimination of dimensional deviations,

• no problems with storage and cut material on the side of customer

Our Research&Development Department perform the metallurgical research, develop new products, and implement and optimize new technologies.

For the production of high-quality products, we have to closely observe the development of new steels and technologies across the world. The latest developments are quickly introduced into our production. The extent of our development achievements is wide and dynamic; they involve new steels, new products, new and improved technologies and faster manufacturing procedures. Our development achievements ensure us a competitive advantage over our rivals.

Incorporation into a partner development network represents a vital part of our research and development. On the one hand, this means a closer cooperation with the top-level knowledge and development institutions, while on the other hand, we enjoy development cooperation with the development departments held by our partners - customers as well as competent consulting.

For research, we have the latest research equipment at our disposal such as optical microscopes, a scanning electron microscope with an EDS analyzer, an X-ray diffractometer and a dilatometer along with a mechanical and a chemical laboratory as well as laboratory heat-treatment furnaces.

We are building a database covering the properties of our steels and perform inspections also for external clients. Our development department employs a team of highly competent experts, which has been constantly upgraded since our bold development goals are set on a long-term basis.

Our main strategic guideline is Total Quality Management (TQM) which includes the environment management system. This is also confirmed by the certificate we received according to the EN ISO 14000:2004 standard.

Modern chemical, mechanical and metallographic laboratories, professionally trained and skilled personnel and our longterm experience enable us to realize the quality policies as set, going beyond EN ISO 9001:2000 standard.

Employees form the basic cell of our company and at the same time its major asset. Ensuring a safe working place is one of the principle rights, duties and responsibilities of all our employees. Therefore we are introducing the system of safety and health at work

OHSAS 18001:2007 into the central strategy of Metal Ravne.
