JACL Concert & DanceIn the evening on Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 7:00pm to

concert and dance by the Minidoka Swing Band from Portland, Oregon at the Beresford Recreation Center in San Mateo. The Minidoka Swing Band was formed as a tribute to the Japanese Americans interned during World War II and to highlight the music popular in the Internment Camps. Tickets are $30 per person or $50 per couple and can be purchased via Eventbrite at smjacl.eventbrite.com. This evening event is a fundraiser for JACL educational activities. The College of San Mateo Ethnic Studies will be hosting its 10th

On Friday, May 3rd from 5:30 pm “The World of Bernice Bing” and “Leitis in Waiting” will be shown. On Saturday, May 4th from 6:30 pm “Our Man in Tokyo: The Ballad of Shin Miyata,” “Keepsake,” and “I Say Dust” will be shown. Aileen I. Parking Lot SaleOn Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm, the Commu-nity Center will hold its annual Parking Lot Sale of clothing, house-hold goods, and plants. This sale complements the annual Holiday Boutique & Bake Sale in November which features Japanese items and baked goods. We need your help at the Parking Lot Sale either to assist or to purchase clothing or other items that you may want. The proceeds from the Parking Lot Sale help to keep the Community Center open. Volunteer Appreciation LuncheonThe Community Center held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on April 3rd. Alexandra Carter from Congresswoman

Recognition from Congresswoman Speier. Hatsuko Arima and Michele Epstein from Peninsula Family Service spoke about their Senior Peer Counseling program. Afterward the volunteer played bingo and everyone won a prize.

ボランティアへの感謝の昼食会　（写真）コミュニティセンターは4月3日、恒例のボランティアへの感謝の昼食会を開きました。 ジャッキー・スペア議員のオフィスからアレキサンドラ・カーター氏が出席、スペアー議員からの感謝状が手渡されました。 ぺニンスラ・ファミリー・サービスからハツコ・アリマ、ミッシェル・エプスタインの二人がシニア・ピア・カウンセリングについて話しました。 その後でボランティアはビンゴをし、全員が賞品をもらいました。

ニュース JACLコンサートとダンス5月18日（土）の夕べ午後7時―午後10時にJACLサンマテオ支部は、オレゴン州ポートランドのミニドカ・スウィング・バンドによる募金のためのコンサートとダンスの夕べをサンマテオのベアースフォード・レクリエイション・ホールで催します。 ミニドカ・スウィング・バンドは第二次世界大戦の間に強制収容所に入れられた日系人をたたえるもので、キャンプでポピュラーだった音楽をハイライトとするバンドとして結成されました。入場料は、一人30ドル、カップルでは50ドルで、Eventbrite、 sｍjacl.eventbrite.comで購入できます。
