    TheMayorsOffice of Gang Reduction and YouthDevelopment (GRYD)was established in 2007with the

    primarygoalofestablishingdatadrivengangpreventionand interventionprograms intheCitysmostgang

    impactedcommunities.

    Summer

    Night

    Lights

    (SNL),

    acomponent

    of

    the

    GRYD

    strategy

    was

    piloted

    during

    the

    summerof2008asa response to research thatpoint toyouthbeingmost likely to commitviolent crimes

    duringthesummermonthsintheCityofLosAngeles.Nowinits6th

    consecutivesummer,theSNLprogramis

    implemented in32parksacrossthecitywith thegoalof reducinggang relatedviolence inandaroundSNL

    sites&providingcommunityengagementandemploymentopportunitiesforyouthaswellasadults.

    GENERALRESPONSIBILITIESTheSiteManagerworksindependentlyandcollaborativelywithGRYDstaffandprogrampartnerstooversee

    allaspectsofSNLprogramservicedeliveryatone(1) identifiedsite.TheSiteManagerworks independently

    and collaborativelywith theGRYDoffice toplan,manage, and implement activities in the following areas

    programming, management, supervision, and reporting. Other responsibilities include development of an

    outreachplanandprogramcalendarthatwillengageparticipantsacrossthefamilylifecycle,supervisionofa

    sitecoordinationteamthatincludesyouthages1724,andservingasliaisontoprogrampartnersthatinclude

    law enforcement, community based organizations, and city departments. The Site Manager will work

    collaborativelywithdiversepopulations;whichincludepotentialperpetratorsandvictimsofviolence,manage

    complexsituationsandproblemsolveeffectively,aswellaspossessexcellentmanagement,communication,

    organizational,administrativeandtimemanagementskills.

    WORKDUTIESMAYINCLUDE,BUTARENOTLIMITEDTO: Assessingcommunityparticipationtodevelopplanstoincreaseand/ormaintainparticipation. Supervisionofprogramstaffwhichincludesprovidingdirection,inputandfeedback. Manageandcoordinateworkgroupmeetingsinvolvinginternalandexternalprogrampartners. Ensurethatprogramactivitiesoperatewithinsetpoliciesandprocedures. Managementandweeklyreconciliationofsitebudget. Sourcingandweeklyinventoryofprogramsupplies. Assistanceandsupervisionofdailysetupandbreakdownofprogramactivitiesandequipment. Trackingofprogramactivitiesandsubmissionofnightlyandweeklyreports.

    ADDITIONALREQUIREMENTS: FulltimeavailabilityfromJunethroughAugust. Must complete and pass a Live Scan background screening prior to being provided an official

    employment

    offer.

    Proficiency in the use of computers for word processing, simple accounting, spreadsheets,databases,email,andinternet.

    Valid drivers license and be able to provide a DMV printout, proof of insurance and reliabletransportation.

    Mustbeable tostand for longperiodsof time,carryaminimumof15 lbs,andengage in laborintensiveactivities.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors Degree in a related field with a minimum of one (1) year ofexperience in family,youth,or communitybasedprogram implementationexperience,oraminimumof2

    yearsofprofessionalexperienceinworkingwithfamilies,youth,communityorganizing,orprogram

    o Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others bothinternallyandexternally.
