So Long, Farewell! One blink and it was Christmas, another blink and we were starting the lockdown and, here we are, with a further blink, its four months later and the academic year has gone. Certainly, its one that wont be forgotten in a hurry! And another thing that wont be forgotten in a hurry is our current Year 6 cohort, leaving us now for the next stage of their adventures. They are a remarkable bunch of young people who were denied the opportunity to prove their mettle by sitting the SATs this year—we know they would have done bril- liantly, but, sadly, it was not to be. Even so, they did have a great year, working very well for what was our new Year 6 team (Mrs Napper, Miss Osbaldiston and Mr Robinson) who, on their maiden voyage together, took the children to the stage of Norden Farm and a reworking of Shakespeares Scottish Playto the chilly wilds of north Wales and Rhos-y-Gwaliau. Adventures, fun and some serious study abound and—as with All Good Things—it is coming to an end. Theirs is not the only departure though: as announced a while ago in the newsletter, Mrs Miles—our SENDCo—is going to spend more time with her family and to focus on her Masters studies while Mrs Kitchen, after many years with us, is going to put her feet up for her well-deserved retirement. However, sad though these changes are, we have already met the most wonderful Year 2 children who are waiting patiently for their turn at the adventure, being about to join us for Year 3 in September and a new year also means a new Year 6. And so the adventure continues. Meantime, good luck to those leaving —enjoy your summer break—and, for those of you staying with us: keep an eye on ClassDojo for all the latest information about the Autumn Term, varying start times and days, and one-way systems! So Long, Farewell!

One blink and it was Christmas, another blink and we were starting the lockdown and, here we are, with a further blink, it’s four months later and the academic year has gone. Certainly, it’s one that won’t be forgotten in a hurry! And another thing that won’t be forgotten in a hurry is our current Year 6 cohort, leaving us now for the next stage of their adventures. They are a remarkable bunch of young people who were denied the opportunity to prove their mettle by sitting the SATs this year—we know they would have done bril-liantly, but, sadly, it was not to be. Even so, they did have a great year, working very well for what was our new Year 6 team (Mrs Napper, Miss Osbaldiston and Mr Robinson) who, on their maiden voyage together, took the children to the stage of Norden Farm and a reworking of Shakespeare’s ‘Scottish Play’ to the chilly wilds of north Wales and Rhos-y-Gwaliau. Well Done Awards of the Term

3.1

Zayan: for always giving his best in lessons at school and at home. He has grown in confi-dence and now tackles those higher lever challenges independently, which I am so proud of. He listens well to advice and is pleased when he achieves his goal. An example of this being his handwriting, Zayan worked hard to get his letters the same size and joined up and was so pleased to get his pen licence as a result. Thank you Zayan!

Aditi: for being such a positive role model for the class. From the very beginning of the year Aditi was showing the All Saints values through the way she respected those around her and showing thankfulness in all that she had. Aditi is always smiling and has such a lovely caring side to her, by always offering to help her class mates and the adults. Thank you for a great year.

3.2

Gurman: for always striving to do his best in lessons and approaching every task with a positive attitude. Gurman's English has really come on this year and he is now able to complete some tasks independently. It has been lovely to see him grow in confidence. Well done!

Khadijah: for being conscientious in all areas of her learning. Khadijah always completes tasks to a high standard. In particular she has produced some detailed pieces of writing in English taking great care with her handwriting, and including a range of adjectives and conjunctions. I have enjoyed reading her work this year. Well done

3.3

Sibella: for her positive attitude to learning throughout the year. She has made great progress and is also willing to help others. Sibella has had an excellent year and it has been a joy to have her in our class.

Aidan: for the effort and enthusiasm that he has put into learning every day. He has giv-en each day his all and has made good progress over the year. He has been a joy to teach this year and we would like to wish him all the best.

4.1

Ruby: for being absolutely delightful to teach. She has been an excellent role model for all her peers, upholding all our school values. In addition to this her increasing focus to-wards her English and Maths has meant that she has really shone. Ruby has remained so positive during lockdown and shown an increased confidence in all her tasks, which has been lovely to see!

Jack: for his growth mindset, kindness to his peers and creativity throughout the year, especially in lockdown. He has wowed me with his piano playing skills, not to mention his positive attitude to all tasks given!

4.2

Shathushkah: for her growth in confidence this year. She has been conscientious and en-thusiastic about all her learning but her self-belief and confidence has really developed this year. She has a brilliant attitude to learning and has been a wonderful role model to others in 4.2. We wish Shathushkah all the best for year 5.

Jessica: for being a valuable asset to the whole class during the year. She has a number of outstanding attributes which demonstrate All Saints values. She is self-motivated to do her best in everything. Her contributions to class discussions have always been valuable. She is resilient and caring to others, a friend to all. Throughout this difficult time she has exhibited flexibility and being able to adapt to new situations, continually showing grate-fulness.

4.3

Sophia: for her consistently positive and increasingly independent attitude to her learn-ing this year. She has been motivated and enthusiastic, growing in confidence and always willing to help others. In ClassDojo, she was organised, fully engaged and produced beau-tiful work in all subjects. Good luck in Year 5!

Luca: for making excellent progress, especially in English writing, improving focus on his work, increasingly consistent, positive attitude and confidence in his abilities and re-sponding positively to teacher input. Well done, Luca. Good luck in Year 5!

Well Done Awards of the Term

5.1

Eric - He has been an absolute delight to have in the classroom this year. He always put his best effort into everything he does, and has continued to do so through lockdown. He consistently demonstrates excellent behaviour both in the classroom and around the school. He has made excellent progress this year and we wish him all the best for Year 6.

Alex - He has consistently shown a positive attitude to all of his learning this year. He puts his all into everything that he does and is always looking for ways to improve. He confidently shares his ideas with the class and has been a wonderful support for others in the room. Alex's behaviour is always superb. Well done Alex and good luck in Year 6!

5.2

Nandana: for her thoughtful, mature and conscientious approach to her work in addition to her self motivation and positivity in class and during her learning in lockdown. She has shared quotes to motivate her teachers too! She has been a delight to teach and is an as-set to All Saints.

Oli: for being a positive role model to others and for trying his best in lessons whist demonstrating he can be supportive towards his peers. He has persevered with his work during lockdown, shown a real commitment to his learning and should be very proud of himself.

5.3

George: as he has grown in confidence and self-esteem, throughout the year. He has be-come more willing to put his hand up and share his ideas with the class and has been a wonderful friend to his peers. Good luck in Year 6!

Unaysah: for her hard work and dedication to her learning. She has been a wonderful role model in all aspects of school life and is always conscientious, sharing her ideas and sup-porting her peers. Good luck in Year 6!

6.1

Shrey has been a fabulous member of class 6.1 this year and a wonderful learning mentor to his peers. Shrey consistently applies himself in everything he does at all times. He loves to learn and always takes an active part in lessons by answering questions and working as part of a team to solve tricky challenges. He was a fantastic actor in our pro-duction of Macbeth and really took on the character role. I will really miss teaching Shrey but I know he will move up to his new school and achieve great things.

Ida has worked incredibly hard during Year 6 and has continued to do just this throughout lock-down. Ida's home learning work has been outstanding. She has put so much effort into every piece of work. It has been a joy to read through and mark, especially her life-size circulatory system diagram! Ida's positive growth mindset has helped her make super progress and I know she will do well in her new secondary school.

6.2

Samarah joined us from a different school and settled into All Saints instantly. Not only did she make lots of new friends, she dived straight into her work and became an integral member of our class. Despite having to adapt to new surroundings, Samarah worked real-ly hard and showed great improvement with her maths, writing and grammar. What a great year - well done!

Alexa has shown an incredible amount of growth across many areas during the year. Alexa has blown me away with the improvements they have made in maths and her writ-ing has really blossomed throughout the year. Most impressively, Alexa has worked in-credibly hard at building her confidence which has paid dividends as she has developed into a really confident and kind girl. I wish her all the best for her future.

6.3

Elizabeth for her wonderful attitude towards her work all year. She entered the class-room every day with enthusiasm to learn and this was obvious in the work that she pro-duced. Her joyful approach to all lessons was a delight.

Ethan for the development of a more mature attitude towards his learning. He made great strides in many subjects, especially in maths, developing a greater confidence in all areas. He listened carefully to advice given and the progress that he has made has been excellent. Well Done.

School Grounds Update

Since Mrs Thompson’s video about planting was posted on the School Story on ClassDojo, there have been some developments….

Unfortunately, the meadow areas at the end of the trim trail didn’t take but poppies were found on the field! Maybe the wind blew the seeds or sometimes birds can drop them on their travels. Hopefully, next year will be more successful.

The children who have been in school planted various seeds and plants. The green beans started on the windowsill and then went into the trough outside Year 3 with some strawberries, spinach and let-tuces. A strawberry patch was also planted in the playground.

April—A good start in the trough. June—The lettuces and straw-berries are blooming.

June—The green beans are healthy.

July—Unfortunately the green beans got black fly, but the lettuces were harvested and are having a second growth. The chil-dren also planted herbs and marigolds.

In the summer holidays, have a think about some ideas for an autumn and winter planter and let Mrs Thompson know!

School Lunches—Pre-Pay Only Every year, the school happily helps families-in-need, who qualify, by providing free school meals and I can confirm that this will con-tinue in the Autumn. Unfortunately, there are those who—despite being able to pay—don’t and the school ends up subsidising the lunches of some chil-dren out of funds which should be used for everyone’s education. Those people who are in debt to the school are chased proactively and we do what we can to prevent the situation escalating. De-spite this, over time, not insignificant sums are being lost to bad debtors. While, historically, we have provided children with food as we do not want them to go hungry, the problem with ‘can pay but won’t pay’ parents is not going away and, reluctantly, the decision has been made that meals will only be provided in future where there is prepayment. When a child comes to school in future, asking for a school meal and there is no credit balance on the parent’s Tucasi account, we will contact home asking that a packed-lunch be provided or that a credit is made to the Tucasi account. We are not authorised to provide parents or carers with credit but do ask that if a family is in difficulties, they talk to us first so that we can see what we can do to help.

One Way System from September

In accordance with Government directives, to limit opportunities for the coronavirus to spread in our

community, a number of measures will be in force from the Au-tumn; this includes staggered start and finish times for all children. and we will operate a one-way system through the grounds at drop-off and collection times: the only entrance into the grounds will be via the Lower Playground pedestrian gate and the only exit will be through the Westborough Road pedestrian gate. Please help us keep everyone safe by respecting the new through-route in September. Thank you.
