1. What is Dialect? Dialect is used in two distinct ways. One usage the more common among linguists refers to a variety of a language that is a characteristic of a particular group of the language's speakers. The term is applied most often to regional speech patterns, but a dialect may also be defined by other factors, such as social class. Dialect in West Sumatera. In west Sumatera have many dialect. Every area have different dialect. For example :Bahasa Minangkabau "baku": A keceknyo ka kau?Payakumbuh :A kecek e ka kau?Bukittinggi: A keceknyo ka gau?Padang Panjang : Apo keceknyo ka kau?Pariaman : A kato e bakeh kau?It all have same meaning that in Indonesian language : Apa kata nya sama kamu?

2. What is social dialect based on the each community? A social dialect is as well as regional ones. Social dialect from the various factors that can be used to determine social position, e.g., occupation, place of residence, education, new versus old money, income, racial or ethnic origin, cultural background, caste, religion, and so on. Such factors as these do appear to be related fairly directly to how people speak. In West Sumatera that called Minang language also based on the social levels someone. When we talked to people have a higher social levels. A person may not use the word "ang", or call her name , but they had to mention its title that is datuk. 3. What is Idiolect? Idiolect is an individual's distinctive and unique use of language, including speech. This unique usage encompasses vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. Idiolect is the variety of language unique to an individual. This differs from a dialect, a common set of linguistic characteristics shared among some group of people. In minang language also used idiolect in language. For example when speaking used do in the last sentences. Iko indak lamak do : ini tidak enak Ndak ba a do : tidak apa Ndak ado lai do : tidak ada lagi

4. What is Vulgar? Originally, this meant "of the people". Then over time things "of the people" became "vulgar" things, so now "vulgar" means bad, low class, inappropriate. Dirty jokes, informal topics, etc. This is a manner of speaking or a topic, rather than any particular word. For example vulgar in minang language : b. Anjiang, juga termasuk kata yang sangat kasar bila diucapkan.c. Pak ang, mak ang, atau pak kau, mak kau.

5. What is Slang? Slang consists of a lexicon of non-standard words and phrases in a given language. Use of these words and phrases is typically associated with the subversion of a standard variety (such as Standard English) and is likely to be interpreted by listeners as implying particular attitudes on the part of the speaker. In some contexts a speaker's selection of slang words or phrases may convey prestige, indicating group membership or distinguishing group members from those who are not a part of the group. For example slang in minang language: Kalera :"Kalera ang mah" = kurang ajar kamu

6. What is Jargon? Jargon is the technical terminology or characteristic idiom of a special activity or group. An industry term is a type of technical terminology that has a particular meaning within a specific industry. Jargon is similar to slang used by a certain group or subculture. Jargon is significantly removed from the proper or formal spoken in that location. It is commonplace for each generation to create their own jargon language. Whether this is because they want to identify with each other and thus create a language of their own, or if they deliberately do not want to be understood by anybody else.Jargon is like a type of shorthand between members of a particular group of people, often words that are meaningless outside of a certain context. For example in sissy group used minang language. Mi, pai malelong beko? = Mi, pergi bermain nanti? Tinta, Ka. Maleh den ma. Tidak, Ka. Malas saya.

For example in fotografer group used jargon in minang language X: Astaga! Caliak gambar wak ko a? = Astaga! Lihat gambar saya! Parah, kok bisa bocor ? Padahal angle nyo paa = Parah, kok bisa bocor? Padahal angle nya pas
