Remember, what may be appropriate to wear on the weekend is not always appropriate for school!

Shoes must be worn at all times. *Note some classes will not allow open-toed shoes for safety reasons.*

Page 4: SOJH Dress Code

Shorts, skirts, dresses must be just above the knee or lower. No mini skirts/dresses or short shorts.

Items worn over leggings must be the appropriate length.

Form-fitting skirts, pants or leggings (worn as pants) are not allowed at school.

Pajamas and slippers are NOT to be worn to school.

Shirts MAY NOT have midriff showing or be revealing at the neck or arm holes.

Tank tops, halter tops, sleeveless shirts, and see through tops are not allowed without a shirt on underneath.

No sagging pants or exposed underwear!

Clothing with designs, printed words or slogans

that are suggestive, obscene, in poor taste,

promote violence, refer to a substance or promote

activity that is illegal for minors will NOT be allowed.

Gang or drug related clothing is prohibited.

Gang and drug apparel or

fashion may be banned as we receive new information

from local gang task force and

local law enforcement.

Extremely shredded pants or holes that expose skin or underwear are prohibited.

Page 18: SOJH Dress Code

If skin is not exposed , ripped jeans are acceptable.

Page 19: SOJH Dress Code

Hats, scarves, sweatbands, hoods, bandanas, sunglasses, etc. may not be worn in the building.

Extreme or educationally distracting hair/makeup will not be allowed.

Page 21: SOJH Dress Code

Clothing attachments, jewelry, or accessories which could be considered weapons or that could pose a potential injury or cause disruption should not be worn. Chains longer than 6 inches are not allowed.

Facial piercings that are disruptive or extreme should not be worn. Students may be asked to remove them.

South Ogden Junior High School reserves the right to prohibit any items of clothing or appearance which may cause a disturbance or distraction to orderly school environment. This includes banning colors if necessary.

Violations of the dress code policy will result in disciplinary action:

First Offense: Student warned and required to change. Incident recorded on discipline tracker.

Second Offense: Student warned and required to change. Parent notified and incident recorded on discipline tracker. Second hat violation results in hat confiscated. (Parent will have to pick up hat.)

Third Offense: Student suspended for one day. Parent notified. Incident recorded on discipline tracker.

Further violations will result in extended periods of suspension from school.
