It’s Always a Good Time to Say, “Thank you” - Expressing Gratitude!
Greetings Sojourner Families,
As the year is coming to a close, it’s hard to believe the end of the school year is here. This also marks the
completion of my first year as assistant principal. As I reflect upon this year, I am deeply grateful for the
Sojourner community, students, staff, and families as well as other community partners, who have given of
themselves in a many ways to enrich the educational experiences that our students have had this year. I know
that no one could not have done it alone. It takes all of us working together in unity and love for what we are
doing to provide the optimum experience possible for our students.
In addition, it is at this time of year that we embark upon state testing, which includes the Smarter Balanced
English Language Arts and Math tests and the OAKS Science test. Students began taking state assessments
the first part of May and will finish all assessments by June 5th. Rosina Hardy A. P.

Sojourner Celebration! Congratulations to our Violin and Orff classes. The Sojourner Celebration was a
giant success! The music our children produced was of a great calibur. The Rex
Putnam auditorium was filled with many delightful songs from Mary Had a
Little Lamb to Alouette to We Will Rock You. Families cheered and clapped with
joy and excitement watching their children’s performances. Students also sang
songs of a playful nature. It was all together delightful and a moment to be
remembered. Well done!

Saludos Sojourner familias,
Ya que el año está llegando a su fin, es difícil creer que el final del año escolar está aquí. Esto también supone el fin de mi
primer año como subdirectora. Al reflexionar sobre este año, estoy profundamente agradecida por la comunidad de Sojourner,
los estudiantes, el personal y las familias, así como otros socios de la comunidad, que han dado de sí mismos en muchas
maneras para enriquecer las experiencias educativas que nuestros estudiantes han tenido este año . Yo sé que nadie podría
haberlo hecho solo. Se necesita de todos nosotros trabajando juntos en unidad y amor en lo que estamos haciendo para
proporcionar la experiencia óptima posible para nuestros estudiantes.
Además, es en esta época del año en que nos embarcamos en las pruebas del estado, que incluye las pruebas Smarter
Balanced de Artes del Lenguaje y Matemáticas y la prueba OAKS de Ciencia. Los estudiantes comenzaron a tomar las
evaluaciones del estado a principios de mayo y terminarán todas las evaluaciones por el 5 de junio.

¡Celebración de Sojourner! Felicidades a nuestras clases de violín y de Orff. ¡La celebración de Sojourner
fué un éxito gigante! La música que nuestros hijos producían era de un gran
Calibre. El auditorio de Rex Putnam estaba lleno de muchas encantadoras
canciones desde Mary Had a Little Lamb y Alouette hasta We Will Rock You.
Las familias aclamaron y aplaudieron con alegría y emoción las actuaciones de
los niños. Los estudiantes también cantaron canciones de naturaleza alegre. Eso
era todo junto, agradable y un momento para recordar. ¡Bien hecho!

Nurses NotesAs this will be my last chance to reach all parents, the following are important items to remember.
Parents must pick up all medications at school. No medication will be sent home with students. Please pick up medications by June 18 or they will be discarded. A new yearly medication form will be needed for the next school year and should be turned into the office in fall. This form can be found on the Nurse’s website under Forms.
All 5th graders planning to participate in middle school sports next school year are required to have a sports physical prior to participating. These are good for two years. The sports physical form can be found on the Nurse’s website under Forms and through the middle school’s athletic department.
As 5th graders are looking ahead to middle school, please note that Tdap immunization is required in 7th grade and can be given any time after their 10th birthday.
Lastly, even though the sun has not been out much lately, it will be. Remember to use sunscreen with at least 15 SPF or higher. Make sure it is not expired so it will work. Apply it often and after swimming. Wear a hat, too.

Como esta será mi última oportunidad de contactar a todos los padres, a continuación se mencionan notas importantes para recordar.
Los padres deben recoger todos los medicamentos en la escuela. Ningún medicamento será enviado a casa con los estudiantes. Por favor, recoja los medicamentos para el 18 de junio o se descartarán. Un formulario nuevo de medicamentos anual será necesario para el próximo año escolar y debe entregarse en la oficina de la escuela en el otoño. Este formulario puede encontrarse en la página de internet de la enfermera bajo formas.
Todos los estudiantes de 5º grado o mayores que planean participar el los deportes escolares el próximo año se les requiere que tengan un examen físico deportivo antes de participar. Este examen deportivo es bueno por dos años. El formulario de examen deportivo se puede encontrar en la página de internet de las enfermeras bajo el enlace Forms y a través del Departamento de deportes escolares de la escuela secundaria.
Mientras los estudiantes de 5o grado esperan entrar a la secundaria, por favor note que la inmunización de Tdap es requerida en 7o grado y se puede administrar en cualquier momento después de su 10o cumpleaños.
Por último, aunque el sol no ha salido mucho últimamente, lo hará. Recuerde usar bloqueador solar con protección de por lo menos 15 SPF o mayor. Asegúrese de que el bloqueador solar no haya expirado para que funcione. Aplique el bloqueador solar a menudo y después de nadar. También, use un sombrero.
