During the development phase of a pipe layer vessel new-building, the customer needed advice on issues not covered by classification including design, capabilities and capac-ities, the stinger arrangement and the stinger strength.
DNV utilized its competence and experience on pipe layer ships and its systems and guidelines for drawing appraisal, specification review and verification work.
brm maritime evaluated the ship's design, arrangement and equipment against the building specification looking at functionality, maintainabil-ity and best practice, assuring that the customer's newbuild-ing was fit for purpose.
the stinger strength verifica-tion was carried out according to the customer's require-ments and DNV's recom-mended standards.

During its operational life a vessel will encounter numerousevents such as conversions in order to adapt to new or changing markets, changes of ownership or incidents. Such events are subject to variable, multi-faceted and complex risks that need to be controlled.
