*Call to Worship (Responsive)

One: Jesus said: “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and

everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.”

All: Christ is risen! We have seen the glory of God.

*Prayer of the Day (Responsive)

One: Glory to you, O God:

All: On this day you won victory over death, raising Jesus from the grave and giving us eternal life.

One: Glory to you, O Christ:

All: For us and for our salvation you overcame death and opened the gate to everlasting life.

One: Glory to you, O Holy Spirit:

All: You lead us into the truth.

One: Glory to you, O Blessed Trinity,

All: Now and forever. Amen.

*Hymn #232 Jesus Christ Is Risen Today

*Prayer of Confession (Unison)

God of all hope and joy, we confess that we continue to live in fear. You walk with us in our sorrow, yet we fail to

recognize you. You show us that Christ is risen, yet doubts persist in our hearts. Forgive us, God of grace. Open

our hearts and minds to understand and believe the good news of the resurrection; through Jesus Christ our

Lord.

(Time for Silent Confession)

One: Entering into the grace of Christ’s new day, the people said,

All: “Amen.”

*Assurance of Pardon

*The Gloria Patri Hymnal Page 581

peace to others.

Our Response to God’s Word

*Introduction of Confirmands (11:00)

*Affirmation of Faith - Selection from The Brief Statement of Faith

In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the

communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship

and serve.

We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to

the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and

binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the

gospel. Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain

and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life,

breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal.

With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of

God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Offering of Tithes and Gifts

Offertory Alleluia Andrew Miller

*Doxology Hymnal Page 606

*Prayer of Dedication

Sending

*Hymn #240 Alleluia, Alleluia! Give Thanks

*Benediction

One: Go in peace to love and serve the Lord in the power of his resurrection. Alleluia! The grace of the Lord Jesus

Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

All: Amen.

One: Christ is risen!

All: Christ is risen!

One: Christ is risen!

All: Christ is risen!

One: Christ is risen!

All: Christ is risen, indeed! Alleluia, Alleluia!

*Congregational Response Christ is Alive! (#246) Brian Wren

Christ is alive! Let Christians sing. The cross stands empty to the sky.

Let streets and homes with praises ring. Love, drowned in death, shall never die.

*Postlude Alleluia Manuel

*Those who are able may stand

Fear? Do you want a Stephen Minister—a trained lay Christian caregiver to walk beside you in times of trouble, but just can’t take that step to ask for help? Are you trying to cope alone, but just not quite making it? Are you afraid others will know what you tell your Stephen Minister? Do you feel guilty for needing someone to listen to you and pray for you? Allow yourself to do this. Allow yourself to reach out for help. Allow someone to share the comfort of Christ with you. Stephen Ministers are there for you, and will keep all that you say in confidence. You don’t have to go through this alone. Contact Stephen Leader Lisa Lader (642-6840 or cell 439-2004), Pastor Dr. Christopher Crotwell, Associate Pastor Rev. Erin Gaston or Parish Associate Rev. Judy Bowling (648-9574) so you will not have to carry your burdens alone.

Please Sign Up for the following activity on the bulletin board just past the water fountain in the hall. April 16 - on this Thursday we will journey back to Newberry for lunch followed with a 3 :00 PM concert by the Lennon Sisters; surely you remember these ladies. Cost is $35.00 for your ticket plus $2.00 to ride our bus. Naturally this does not include your meal. More info is posted with the sign-up sheet. Please remember, once you sign-up you are obligated to pay for your ticket, less bus fee, unless you can sell it to someone else.
