engagement meetings, - presenting information in a concise, readable

format, and - soliciting the community’s feedback.

Requested information and presentations from Austin ISD staff regarding South Austin demographics, data on overcrowding, and academic programs;

Developed and launched a survey for high school and middle school students;

Participated in a survey regarding their own personal preference for the academic programming; and

Crafted a guidance statement regarding the academic programming for the future South Austin high school.

educational experience to all students that is rigorous, culturally relevant, healthful, and engaging.

• Key Action 1.15: Determine advanced academic courses to be offered at every school, create coherent sequences of course offerings, and expand opportunities for dual credit and advanced placement.

• Key Action 1.11: Provide more opportunities for students to participate in enrichment programs such as career interest, technology, athletics, and languages other than English.

Geographical access and equity to

programming. No academic magnets high school

programs in South Austin. IB at Anderson, Fine Arts Academy

at McCallum, and Liberal Arts and Science Magnet are all located in North Austin.

Projected growth in student enrollment in South Austin adds potential for overcrowding in existing South high schools.
