Commodore’s Comments
This is my 59 ½ Commodore Comments since taking a leadership role in this awesome organization. I have said this to many people that SMYC has given to me much more than I ever gave to Club. I have learned so much from our Members and use what I have learned in my business and life in general. To tell you that I appreciated ALL of your support throughout my years as your Commodore would be an understatement. I would like to thank ALL of you for your assistance and guidance. We have a new leadership team coming on board and I wish them the best. It is extremely healthy for an organiza-tion to get fresh ideas and goals through their leadership. So, when you run into our Board as of January 1st, please thank them for stepping up for our Club. Bryan Gahan will do a great job steering the ship. Thank you to Ryan Rybka, Ron Ilk, Jayne Wisniewski, Mary Karwacki, Paige Hans, Tom Billingsley, and John Erickson for your service to our Club. I would be remised to not thank our outgoing Board Mem-bers. They have been a great group to work with. Thank you Mike Gengler, Jan Ruggles, Katy Steinhaus, Betsy Reifscheider, and Bob Jepsen. I appreciate your time and your commitment to your Club. Finally, Mary Jo and I want to wish our SMYC family and friends a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year’s! Hope to see you down at the Club! The program will consist of

This year’s dinner selections are the following: Prime Rib, Orange Roughy, or
Chicken Cordon Bleu
A salad, bread with butter, baked potato or rice, dessert and coffee are also included with your dinner selection.

Tickets will be on sale at the bar. *Packer Games and sponsors are posted on the club bulletin board. Check it out and join us for some food and fun!! *Calling all our Sheepshead players, join us on Wednesday Nights at 6:30pm for a fun game of skill. * Tuesday night Salsa Dance Classes beginning January 9th. If you are interested, take a look at the flyer posted on the board or contact Vicki Karwacki @ [email protected] *We are always looking for new ideas for events and activities. DECK THE HALL!!! I want to thank the following members that assisted in decorating the club for Christmas! I was more than surprised to see all of these members show up and eager to help!. A very sincere thank you to Bill Wheatley, Mike Trock, John Nowicki, Kathy Manna, Sandy Webb, Ron Ilk, Bob Ilk, Dennis Anich, George Prudop, Linda Daly and Jim Rothschadl. Please forgive me if I left anyone out. Bob Ilk also was able to hang the remaining burgees that we have received from various yacht clubs. So, what used to take Bill and myself a day and a half to decorate, we were done in six hours! Thank you to all! After our Installation event, we will be taking everything down, so if you need additional hours please feel free to help. Trim A Tree Party was a huge success! Many followers of the Larry Lynne Band arrived bringing appetizers and the dance floor was never empty! A numerous array of terrific ornaments were entered in the contest and I am sure the judging wasn’t easy. However, our winners were: Ray Hollnagel – 1st place Karen Puetz - - 2nd place Karen Kilman - 3rd place Congrats to all of you! Happy Holidays to all, and, please don’t forget to check the Christmas Card Box in the Hall for your cards – I noticed it’s already over flowing . Mary Jo Haag

The SMYC 2018 Directory will be in the process of being prepared shortly. Please review your in-formation in the 2017 Directory for accuracy. Send change requests to: [email protected] Reminder: If you wish to change your membership status from “Regular” to “Family” or vice-versa, this change needs to be made in writing by the end of the year to [email protected] This type of change can only be made at year end.
