    - MilWMMM•l;@iti #L :■11&-I After two weeks away, this

week see's us return to the magnificent Gumly Oval. Perhaps some sport's reporters from the W.D.A. should now compare Gumbly Oval to some of the "Superior venues".

The under 1 B's started the day with a win, but thats were it stopped. Clint Campbell continued his good form to win the incentive and McDonalds Awards, Joel Grieve won the Argweld sox and Mark "unit" Charlton won the Coke.

The Second Grade gave Temora to much start, and despite a great second half comeback, were pipped at the post. Paul Bourne won the Mug and Cornell fuel, Mark Mullen the Carlovers award and Robert "Bundy" Elworthy picked up the Civic Video.

First Grade matched the conditions. Very bleak. Jason Baulch continued his great form to win the Breusts Mug and Farrer meal for the second week in a row. M McPherson and Simon Male, battled hard all day to win the Eagle Boys and Civic Video awards.

The girls also had a bad day with all grades going down. Award winners being, A grade Lisa Moore B grade Tania Noble, C grade Jan O'Donnell, and Juniors Megan Jones.

Tee Dees Haircut for "Hawk of the day" went to Shane Meyer. Fuz won this award so that Tanya can finish his haircut.

Tonight after the game we have our players Revue, Red Faces night. Also dates have been set for social functions for the balance of the year. On the 10th Aug, trivia night, organise your tables of eight, on the 17th Aug, the t5raditional formal Ball after the Ganmain Game. Ticket's $50.00 per couple, including meal , these tickets can be payed off in advance, please see Zeatta Baulch, Nicole Walker, or Mick Fabre.

The best and fairest vote count will be held on Sunday the 1st September, at the Hall.

    1£ ! Well Sunday's games xi .\ weren't much to write home

about, with one win from three games in the footy and the same with the netball. The Under 1 B's are keeping their push towards

Blue & Gold Bands the finals with a strong victory over Turvey Park. Numbers are

still a bit down, so the more we get to training and to the games the better it will be for everyone. The three votes and Pizza Hut award went to Matty Paul, two votes and Video Ezy award went to "The X Man" Xavier Higgins, with Chris Bradbury, Dwin "Ducky" Cooper and Grant Evers also having good games.

The Magoos put up a far better effort than what the scoreboard tells us going down 15 goals. Larry must be commended on the great job he's doing. Three votes and Sportsman Hotel award went to Brian 'Turns I can't find any Beatles on the Jukebox" McRae, from mark Penny who got the two votes and South Wagga Butchery award, one vote to Lindsay "Chips" Bunn .

The First Graders were on the other side of a fair hiding, but as they say, "that's life". Three votes and Astor award went to Chris "I'm still a very ordinary pool player" from Neil "Is there romance in the air" Lawson who got the two votes and Tuckwells award, while Ants "No Kathryn and I are matching" Armstrong got the one vote and Rupunzels award .

The netballers were beaten in the C Grade with Tracy Lloyd getting the Mug. B Grade lost also with Sharon Leddin winning the Mug and putting it to good use. A Grade recorded a good win and creep closer to the four, with Cherie "Mrs Guru" Kendall.

Interesting sight on Monday night with young Col Sanbrook showing the "Goat" the finer technique of attracting women. Don't forget our official opening and testimonial for Darce and Dan on July 20. Tickets for the Ball are available through Austin "Dribbles" McRae and Cherrie. A great night to be had by all .

This week we travel to Gumly, to do something we should have done in the first round - WIN.

    GO THE GROOVY GOANNAS.

    , .. ,.,!!l@l)!!jj;f-1@•m 41):1=;::g:;::) :=/1]=>=1~:1=@!!i!;ll=• 1=1::1=r-l We have a special event in

our Club today, with one of our favourite sons reaching a milestone, yes he finally made it, Sev (Paul Gillett) plays his 200th game for Gullie. Congratulations Sev. Another milestone of 1 00 senior games

is Geoff Smith. Well done Geoff. Now to the football, once again Mango

turned on the weather, I can't remember a time when we have played at Mango that it wasn't raining. All 3 Grades come home with the points last week.

In the Firsts the Mug and Dinner for Two at the Tolland Hotel went to Geoff Smith with an inspiring effort. The John Waring Endeavour award to Brad Burkinshaw, the RH Blake award to Max Perryman and the Coaches award to Rob Meyers.

In the Reserves Keith (Trout) Hanna had a run after coming back from an injury and took out the Mug, followed closely by brother-in-law Scotty Gunning who gets to take Sandra out for dinner at the Ashmont Inn and Heath (my boy) Bruckner gets a free haircut at the Ashmont Hairdressers.

In the 18's Corey Frater took out the Ashmont Female Staff towel award, the Silvalite award went to Shawn Grentell, the Video Ezy award to Leith Mills and the Coaches award to Steve Davies. This weeks Berrigans Special award went to Keith Hanna on 35 points. .

There was a good showing of Seniors at the Junior matches on Sunday, thank you boys.

In the netball last week Lee Warnes and Shannon Guiton played well in a losing team of A Graders, and Sarah Meyers and Melissa Snowden for B Grade played well.

This week we have another one of those dreaded Sunday games at Coolamon, let's turn the results around from the first round and give Sev something extra to celebrate, 200 games and a win, would be something to crow about, hey Sev.

    ■ . •.·.·.·.·.·.· .•,•,• ,••·············· ··-'•'•·-·. The "S" night last week at the

Wade Sports Club was a Smurfing good time, only slightly spoiled by the reluctance of a couple of old cross dressers from way back to get dolled up and sing a Swan

NavyBlue,Red&GoldHoops song. But it was good to see Spanker back again.

Just one week to go until the "STRUTTERS BALL", but warning, there will "S"trickly be no Smurfs allowed unless they are wearing proper attire, and Blueing each other is "S"trickly prohibited.

RAFFLE: Over the next couple of weeks we will be asking "you" the players, for your raffle books, we need them in soon. So get them out of your bags and start selling. Remember it is a HISTORIC Cruise, the Fairstars last one. Guaranteed to be a non-stop party. A prize that will only increase in value.

Well what can I say, is it the cold weather, was it the long trek to Davis Sanders Oval or did some of our reserves succumb to that dreaded disease, "Eagle frighteous".What do you do, there is no cure. Those who fronted well done and thank God for Saturday games at home and to the Rugby contingent. Considering the situation we found ourselves in we performed well. Awards were Craig Kefford the Liquor Barrell, Duanne "not him again" Attree the Len Wade Pharmacy, Ricky Maybon Fuel from Corenll Petroleum and Peter Lashbrook was our Mug.

The Under 18's couldn't despite a gallant effort reverse the first round result, and have now made their finals aspirations all that much harder to achieve, but still not beyond them. Award winners were Todd Ryall the Pest of the week, tricky Ricky Harrison the Leeton Lunchbox apple turnover and Little Johnny Protheroe a Leeton Video free rental.

A last quarter goal barrage blew out the final margin and covered up a closely contested encounter in true wintry conditions. Once again our young brigade took the honours with the talented and much underrated John Coughlan earning a shirt from Lloyd Pilkington, Rocket Rod McKellar a Wood Oven Pizza from Food-a-rama and big Mick Fraser the Mug after another great game.

Back to the Sports Club after a social slurp at the Gully, where we can fully celebrate our upset victory over the Demons in all grades. And PLEASE become members of the Club or you won't be entitled to receiving the Mug award etc.

  • A great comeback after the previous week. The desire and

    -

enthusiasm returned very quickly and we really showed what we were capable of when

""": :>::::::::::::: ::::t :· the pressure valve is pressed. Blue. Red & Whrte A great display of possession

football was given, with Wally Sykes the mug winner, Benny Nimmo $25 Workforce On Tap award and Nigel Smith the haircut. Straight shooting was also the order of the day and Pat was the catalyst bagging 16.

The 2nds had one of those rare moments of having 18 players for the game. Spanner made a welcome return but didn't recognise any team-mates, they all seemed to be a lot older. Mick & Tank are enjoying themselves. Tank received the Carlovers award and Mick the Workforce On Tap. Brownie deservedly won the mug with hes best game this year.

18's found the going a bit tough with only 15 players, but they did battle the game out to the end. Brent Byrnes poled 8 votes, Darren Bowden, David Coupe and Jason Poulos 3 each.

The Netballers played the A and B Grade deferred games against Tigers on the Wednesday before Mango winning both. Against Mango the A Grade were defeated 31-20, Sara Nixon won the mug and Louise Tory the dry cleaning. The B's won 36-30, the mug going to Michelle Kelly and dry cleaning to Renee Stratton. C Grade also winning 14-11, the mug winner was Belinda Mooney and Tanya Winterton won the dry cleaning award

Today we take on the Hoppers. Let's get stuck in and make sure it's two in a from and keep the momentum going.

To the footy: a great effort from the 18s to soundly defeat the previously unbeaten and extremely undisciplined Gullie. Guy Hyland won the club award. Other award winners were Pink Bits Hilton, Gabba McPherson and Franger Furner.

The 2's juggernaut came to a screaming halt. David Maloney, Windy McPherson and Raymond 'Mad' Chow took the awards.

The Ones certainly lost no admires after a gutsy efort. Best were Pedro Pedretti, Nick Nolte and Paul McKelvie.

The netballers had two great wins, with Megan Hannan and old stager Helen Mcloughlin taking the awards.

effort from 20 goers gave us a great win over the Wagga Tigers in conditions more like a pig sty. Wagga cities motto of a city of

Red, Blue, Gold crest good sports is a bit of a joke compared to its sporting ovals. Mr Consistent Luke Carroll won

the Sports Club Award, Murray Hamblin, with 5 goals, won the Brittons towel award and the socks went to Nicholas Carroll, Miltons Gear votes went the same way, (3) Luke, (2) Murray and (1) Nick.

The Reserves, although missing players through injury, didn't handle the conditions and put up a very ordinary performance. David Logan won the Bowling Club award, Troy Lenon the Ganmain Store towel award and the socks to Robert Kember who also won Nadines Dinner for two.

The U 18s were well beaten with Steve Ruskin winning the Club towel, Eddie Sullivan the Four Hotels award and the socks to Hamish Wheatley.

All U 18s & 2nds players please note that next Saturday's games at Mangoplah will start earlier than usual being 9.45 am and 11.45 am respectively by request from the MCU club.

Silver Circle draw 2: Don and Maureen Steele; Dennis Richards, Roger Hamblin. Club President John Steele missed the great win over the Tigers last weekend to watch his son Mitchell play for the U 11 s curtain raiser for the Swans v Geelong game. We understand he was the secret weapon to play on young Kickett.

Apologies for no netball notes over the last few weeks, they were somehow misplaced! Previous games have produced good results for all teams; Juniors, C and B Grades are well placed in the top four, while A Grade has faced some tough opposition . Last week against -No Juniors, C Grade won 18-15 with Heidi Shepard winning the mug. B Grade won 60-35, boosting their percentage, with a real team effort. Once again Natalie Milne won the Mug while Rachael Hamblin and Nadine Logan contributed eagerly. A Grade faced an experienced and talented side, containing rep players , but worked consistently for four quarters. The Mug went to Tania "3 point" Lenon whose accuracy at shooting goals is something worth seeing, congratulations.

This week we face Temora and the "Daniher girls" so fasten your seat belts for some exciting netball action .

This week we host Temora Kangaroos. Don't forget the Casserole Night for Miss Canola entrant Krista Carroll after the game.

boosting win. Lifted by the Blue&Whilestripes presence of inspirational on-

baller and late withdrawal from last week, Craig "Hi-fi" Maxwell, the Under 18's copped the worst of the conditions but pushed their opponents all the way. When you look at some of our blokes you'd think it was Under 18 kilograms, not years, but they lack nothing in courage. Better players were Joel Griffiths, Ben Kotzur, Woofty, Matty Lowes and Steve Drum.

After holding a 40 point halftime advantage the Magoos did everything in their power to lose, only to fall over the line by the barest of margins. In no way responsible for this fadeout was Craig Kahlefeldt, who was at the bottom of the packs all day and clearly won the Players Player. Snake was resolute in defence and was a worthy winner of the Mug. The Westy award was well received by "comeback kid", Jock McLennan, while Plugger Breust continued his great year in the backline by winning the Laurie Matthews socks.

The First Grade produced an authoritative performance, marred only by the report of coach, Damien "Tripetts" Hale. Players player was won by the ladykiller with the flowing locks, Mick "Fabio" Morton. Matt Gilchrist put the disappointment of Carltons recent form behind him to claim the Mug. Max Deal socks were deservedly won by Mick "Air" Kotzur, while the BFB Fuel was snatched from Goeschys grasp by the consistent Dallas McKelvie.

A small but enthusiastic crowd enjoyed a great evening at last Saturdays pyjama party. Highlight of the night was an impromptu display of stand-up comedy from reknowned funnyman, Richard Thomas. Votes given on the night were as follows: - (3) Richard Thomas (King of the knock-knock jokes), (2) Marty Van Edmond (strong all round performance, highlighted by his rendition of the "Play School" theme song), (1) Scott Sinclair (deserves points for doing 1 O push ups in the gluepot centre of Nixon Park).

Today the seriousness of our finals aspirations will be tested by Ganmain. Nothing less than 100% effort will do.

  • Hi and welcome to this weeks round of MVAFA Football. Wasn't it just "great for football" to see the Lions get up last week. No doubt that the lige rs will come back hard but full credit goes to the Lions for their win. It really has made the race for final positions on the ladder very interesting.

The combined NSW/ACT Under 18 representative team has made a solid start to the National Championships in Melbourne during the week. At the time of printing the team, coached by RAMS mentor David Nobel had beaten Queensland and given The Northern Territory a nice old thumping. Approximately two thirds of the team is made up of current RAMS players and their knowledge of each other and their ability to combine well with each other is certainly helping their cause. Also helping their cause are the number of non RAMS players that have contributed in both matches. James Byrne has been excellent, as has Matthew Hyde from Barooga. These players have fitted in nicely and are making very positive impression .among those gathered to watch. Among the locals performing with distinction are Jarrod Twitt, Chris Jackson and Craig Drum.

This National Carnival, which replaces the

old Teal Cup, still stands as the most important vehicle for individual players to reach their major goals. Every AFL Club is represented and they are all there to take careful note of the many "prospects" that they have in mind. Up until now the scouts have been taking a broad view of all proceeding throughout the country and especially within the VSFL Under 18's. During this carnival, they will be looking closely at the players they consider worthy of all the attention and how they stand up to the expected rise in standard. They will also be using this carnival to find out a what the player is like off the field as well. AFL clubs like to know what sort of personality they are thinking of investing in as well as the type of player they are investing in. Very few "ratbags" are getting through the system these days. You could expect that the coach will have to give quite a few character references before the season is out.

Hopefully, a win against Tasmania yesterday (Friday) will see the NSW/ACT team promoted to first division in 1997, a place they rightfully deserve. Tasmania are the other interstate team in the VSFL and I'm sure this will prove to be a terrific contest.

Meanwhile, back on the home front, the cold weather and the school holidays seems to have had little effect on Auskick participation and young Auskick players are still flocking to Auskick centres all across the Riverina. In some cases Auskick is entering into its last weeks and we look forward to having a successful finish to a very successful season.

Good luck to all participating teams in this weeks round of matches. The grounds still remain in reasonable condition and it promises to be a fantastic month of football leading up towards that all important month, September.

    FARRER LEAGUE (OD) ~jJoria~

With only six rounds remaining and several Farrer teams out of finals contention, one wonders what keeps teams going, apart from the obvious of fulfilling their commitments. But what ammunition does a coach use to fire up his charges, knowing that they now have no hope of being a part of the finals action, and , consequently, no chance at all of winning the premiership. Could it be that they look for improvement, perhaps. Improvement on the week before's performance ... or, better, an improved result on the first time they met that opponent during the season.

Now that the competition has played twelve rounds, the last three can be used to determine whether there has been improvement shown .. . especially by the so-called "lower" teams.

In Round One, losers were Uranquinty-Kapooka (by 53 points), Cootamundra (by 2 points), Rivcoll (89 points) , South Wagga-Tolland (139 points) and Junee (113 points). When they played their "return" matches in Round 10, Cootamundra, South Wagga-Tolland and Junee had all improved. Cootamundra had, in fact, become a winner, inflicting defeat on Marrar for the first time this season . Their improvement was a 9 point "turnaround". Whilst Junee and South Wagga-Tolland were still losers, their margins were only 85 points and 68 points , respectively .. . markedly improved . · Losing teams in Round Two were Ariah

Park-Mirool (by 84 points), RAAF (90 points) , Ardlethan (18 points), South Wagga-Tolland (29 points) and Junee (300 points) . In their return matches APM turned the result around to win by 20 points (a 104 point improvement), RAAF lost by only 46 points, South Wagga-Tolland by only 9 points and Ardlethan by only 10 points. All losers again, but all improved.

Last Saturday's round was a repeat of Round Three, in which the losers were Rivcoll (by 77 points) , RAAF (200 points), South Wagga-Tolland (155 points) , Uranquinty-Kapooka (230 points) and Junee (240 points) . All those teams (the bottom five, you'll note) were losers once again, but all but Rivcoll lost by less than they did first time ... and Rivcoll lost by the same margin!! RAAF improved by 14 points, South Wagga-Tolland by a huge 147 points, Uranquinty-Kapooka by 34 points and Junee by a big 119 points!!

Certainly all kinds of reasons and excuses can be given, not the least of which are the weather conditions of the last two weeks, but the fact is that on the scoreboard, improvement has been shown by the "losers" in the majority of cases and if that improvement is maintained it augers well for the future of the competition , not only this year, but next.

Today's feature match of the round is at Cootamundra, where a confident Blues line-up will be tested by an Ardlethan side fast approaching full strength. It's very important that Ardlethan win this game if their slim chance of making the finals is to be made more likely and to that end a top contest should be enjoyed by spectators at Clarke Oval.

Other games shouldn ' t provide any surprise results, with perhaps the closest being at Forest Hill , where RAAF take on South Wagga-Tolland. Ariah Park-Mirool, Marrar and TRYC should be winners over Rivcoll , Junee and Uranquinty-Kapooka, respectively.

  • Four good wins for the Club on Saturday against a determined Junee Bulldogs. Again conditions were very trying for all concerned. Special mention to the cleanest

Br~.Greentrim,Qildletters footballers for the day Shane Brustolin and Jason Bryce. Are

they just able to keep their feet better than the other 38 players or is it that they are scared of getting dirty?

The First Grade footballers recorded another good win with award winners being, Bowling Club to Ian Gordon who showed great skills in the conditions. The towel award went to Daniel Chalmers in another consistent display in the ruck for his first game in the top grade this year. Ever reliable Sean "Boris" Nesbitt won the socks. Sales and Service award to Andrew "Dado" Schmetzer and the pewter to Mal "Sensational Diesel" Hillier.

The Reserves turned in good defensive game to keep Junee scoreless. Award winners were Bowling Club to Patrick "Wally" Gaynor. The towel to Craig Ross, the socks to Brett Vearing, the Sports Massage to Terry "Igor" Walker and the pewter went to Scott Atkinson our local policeman. Great game Scott keep it up.

B Grade had a fabulous game, putting behind them their efforts of the week before. Award winner for B Grade was Renae Barrow.

We welcome the Rivcoll Bushpigs this Saturday and hope they will join in on our post game function at the hall. The theme is a 60's, ?O's night where everyone is required to come dressed from that period. Let's all get in and support this function and make it a success.

No points but a reasonable showing last week against front runners Coota.

After an amazing in football circles where we at Rivcoll were abused by another club for choosing to become educated

and be able to write with clarity and expression, we took the field a little undermanned as all studious types took a well earned break from the mind breaking life that university provides.

Reserves put up a gutsy effort, and although defeated convincingly by the Blues, did not give up until the final siren. Best was Matt Gandertonwho continued his consistent, if not slightly dis-figured season. Andrew Eamens shook off the effects of an ankle injury to be a solid contributor at fullback , while Travis Allen showed his versatility, proving useful at both ends of the ground.

Firsts put up an excellent performance and although the final margin of 75 points did not flatter, Coota certainly knew they were in a game of footy. Class always shines through in the end and the Blues had too much of that, however if we can play four quarters of footy, and keep 18 men on the ground, we'll be half a chance .

Best for Rivcoll was Paul Scoullar who again dominated in the ruck to be clearly the best big man on the ground. Clint Maloy did a marvellous job on the league's leading goalkicker - and he still kicked 9! Can play a bit! Mario Vujadinovic was again creative across half-forward, with another four quarter performers being Jamie Ross and debutant Scott Heyes.

Netball had another successful day winning all grades. C Grade again won a scratch match against SWT, now all we need is some competition wins. B Grade had a huge 56-21 victory, with Belinda Steen being the standout. A Grade recorded a much needed

those considered just a little better were Robbie Carroll (Mug and $50) in his first Senior game for the year; Neil Morton ($30 and Mug by default....de fault of Robbie for not turning up!); Dean Palframan ($20); Jarrod Hillier (Bistro 2000 Dinner); David Pocock (Thomas Blarney Dinner); Graham Cheney (Flex-it); Russell Hillier (Wagga Squash); Gary Cousley (CarLovers carwash) and Brendan Shumack (Daleo Chocolates).

Whilst the scoreboard wasn't flattering, the Twos put up a fine effort. Everyone gave of their all and a coach can ask for little more. Neil "Lurch" Carey turned in a "blinder" for his 150th to win the players' Mug; Steve Creek won the Thomas Blarney Dinner; Jason "Winnie" Carroll had another "goodie" to win the Golden Seasons Dinner; the Flex-it award went to Scott "Porridge" Rohrich; 50-gamer, Tim Bourke, won the Wagga Squash award and Col "Kosta" Sutherland took home the Daleo Chocolates. .

It was a big day for our netballers, too, as both 'A' and 'B' grades won well. The 'A's are in the four, hopefully to stay, and the 'B's have shown big improvement this season. Awards went to Karen Mackinnon (Mug) and Nicole Vonarx (Choccies) in 'A' grade and to Julie-Ann Hallam (Mug) and Vanessa Stanmore (Chocolates) in 'B' grade.

Thanks once again to the Juniors who ran the boundary in the not so pleasant weather (Brenton Mohr, Raymond Cole and Brendan Cattell) to Phil Cattell, who manned the scoreboard and to the usual two: Marty and Lance for their regular jobs. A BIG improvement in the "duties" performed by the Twos last Saturday. Well done, fellas!!!

Sunday's trip to Sydney organised by Ray Harrison for the Juniors was a big success.

Today it's the Cats at Forest Hill. Let's go for a clean sweep of victories!!!

Tonight, of course, it's the long awaited Trivia Night, for both the Seniors and Juniors at the Rules Club. Get set for a big night!!! Just to help you out here are three questions which will be asked at some stage during the evening. Study them up and you'll get at least three correct answers!!! What was/is the name of Simon Townsend's dog? Name four different ovals the Dons have played on as their home

Tomorrow it's a big day for the Juniors at Anderson Oval where we'll host the Wagga Tigers in four matches. Let's see a big contingent of Seniors to cheer them on. On the subject of Juniors, congratulations are extended to Glenn Currie of our U16s, who recently captained the Wagga & District rep team at the State U15 Champs at Barooga, won the award as the team's best player and was the sole Wagga boy selected in the "Honorary" U15 NSW/ACT U15 "State" team. Well done Glenn!

    P. S. It was great to see former young "star'', Wayne Heath, at the footy last Saturday. Wayne is now stationed at Holsworthy.

Last week was a real dour struggle in both grades. It was pleasing to see both teams come from behind and register ten point victories. The First Grade probably put paid to Artlethan's finals aspirations in what was a hard fought encounter all day. It was pleasing to win a must game and keep that double chance spot alive. Awards in the 1 sts - The Rock Butchery Mug to Feathers Noack. The RAFC award to Dooly Carroll. The Riverina Spraying Service towel to Head Ross. The Thomas Blarney Voucher to Mark Brown. The Amateur awards went as follows - $50 Marcus Kreutzberger, $30 Steve Marston , $20 Paul Hallam. The KOH Dinner to Kreutzy.

The Reserves had to wait until the last quarter to get ahead but the main object I suppose is to win the game. Awards went like - The Libbys Takeaway Mug - John (the machine) Bauer, The Porky and Verda Mug to Scott Brown, The Ladies Auxiliary $1 o went to John Mclachlan and Justin Poole, the KOH Dinner to Dale Gowland.

Netball news -A Grade went down 49-22 with Katie Burkinshaw winning the Mug. B Grade went down 63-9 with Amanda Ryan winning the Mug.

The social scene last week was definitely centred on the Deb Ball at the Pub. There certainly was a stunning array of beauties on parade and a special thanks to the Ardlethan contingent for their participation in the night. I'm sure everyone had an enjoyable time.

The Club welcomes Leigh Brown and hopes that he has an enjoyable and successful association with our Club. His ability and skill will be invaluable for the rest of the year. We hope to have Matty Gale on the track soon too if common sense prevails.

A reminder about the Super Raffle books. Please sell them and return by 27th July. This weeks Personality - Deb of the Ball - Barney Fellows: Favourite drink - Liptons jigglers, Favourite food - whatever Jody buys, Favourite pastime - watching Crochets Days of Our Lives videos. Most admired sportsperson: John "Big Nose" Elliott of course. Whom would like to spend 60 minutes with - Stephen Silvagni so I could meet Jo Bailey.

This week the Dons at Maher Oval. Don't relax because it is supposedly an easier game. Those are the ones that sometimes slip away.

Two down, not good enough. That is about all that can be said about us last Saturday against Marrar. A complete turn around from the week prior. The day was wet and muddy but that did not hinder the Bombers at all

and after quarter time they just went on with it. They are a good side and will do well in the finals again this year, although soundly beaten our players did not give up and if we can put it all together we can do better against Magpies today.

Best for our two's against Marrer were: Brett Parsons (again); Gary Gardner (again); Terry Berude (Buster Lip) Mick Domitrovic; Mark Britton and Mark Valencia, good effort in a depleted side.

For the Rosella One's, Gary Ryan, Adam Jack, Darren McDonald, Al Sharman, Terry Lopsik and Darren May did well against a suspicious opposition. We will never be any good unless we ALL train together and that is our big downfall, we have too many individuals trying to do it on their own and we all know that that is impossible.

Today the Magpies at their place. SWT gave them a shock last week and if we all put in maybe we can do that and take it right up to

    · them. There are twenty of them and twenty of us, get the message! Remember under any circumstances DON'T GIVE UP AND DON'T BACKDOWN. R.J.M.

  • Congratulations to club secretary Peter Willis and his wife Fiona on the arrival of their daughter, Jessica. Peter really enjoyed the "late" nights celebrating .

We are now back on track with a couple of good wins

against the Rosellas. Both teams showed great defence skills to restrict the opposition to a total of 15 points in both games. This years improver must be Darren O'Donnell who after a few games in the ones picked up the mug and top money awards . Other awards went to: Grant Carroll, Frank Corbett, Richie Robinson. Incentive votes to: Richie Robinson, Brendon Harrington, Paul McGowan, Frank Corbett, David Hodge , Richard Nottle.

Plenty of "young Patios" about but the "star" of the week in the Magoos was David Pattison who grabbed the mug. Paul Hindmarsh, Greg Hindmarsh and Jamie Grentall were the other award winners.

Coming up on the "social" scene: Sat 27th July - Ray Gilson - Comedian. Sat 3rd August - Ladies night out. Sun ?? - Bowls at Coolamon.

Life member profile: Bernie (trinner) Langtry is our most prominent supporter when the boys need a rev-up. Only wears green and white at the bowls . Premiership Captain -Coach in 1953 and President of the Bombers in 1979 and '80 . South West League Rep. Player with a deadly stab pass.

Today we venture to Junee for our return games with the Bulldogs . There is a chance that Porridge's secret admirer may turn up and give him another peck on the cheek for his 50th. Will he run the water for the Magoos?

    Today we welcome Marrar

to Junee and hope we have

    nicer weather than last week.

Last week in the very cold ,

    wet, muddy conditions all

    teams found the going

extremely difficult. Both our First Grade and

Reserve Grade sides were beaten, with the

First Grade showing a big improvement,

    particularly in the wet.

Our netball sides were initiated last

weekend as it is the first time ever they have

had to play in the rain and they were both

beaten. They showed great courage because

it was might cold and wet. Wendy Walker won

the Mug in A grade. The First Grade Mug was

won by Fletch McCarthy who had a really

strong game and in his first game with his new

club Col Robinson won the Reserve Grade

Mug . Robbo showed his experience in footy

by talking the players through the game and

their positions, someone of his experience is

much appreciated on the field. We also

welcome his son Mark to the Club and hope

they enjoy their association with us.

Well we hope today brings some good

football and netball with pleasing results.
