• Fiscal year 2016 started July 1 - ADF&G took a cut of 18%
• CFD budget reduction was 12%• New approach to divisional cuts across the
state. • No longer evenly spread across all regions• Divisional leadership team prioritizes statewide
funding cuts by divisional importance. • In FY16, SE Region took a cut of 10%. Cuts to
Southcentral and AYK regions were higher.
FY16 Budget Cuts
FY16 GF cuts impacted our ability to manage commercial fisheries.Biggest cuts came to our salmon program, followed by large cuts to groundfish and herring. Primary salmon related cuts:• Elimination of the video component of
McDonald Lake sockeye assessment (maintained foot surveys)
• Elimination of sockeye genetics stock identification in Chatham and Icy Straits.
Scheduled to be released December 15% budget cuts for CFDWill likely go deeper with Legislative cutsSalmon related cuts• Reduced field office support• Reduced database management• Reduced Chilkat River assessment• Reduced salmon aerial surveys • Replace with test fish funds
