Notes to Contributors
1. This Review is intended as a forum for its readers and not merely as a commodity to be consumed by them. We would therefore like to encourage readers to comment on the content, purpose and effectiveness of the Review. We would especially like to encourage, as part of an ongoing debate, short contributions which make specific comments on articles published in the Review. Brief notes about work in progress will also be very welcome.
2. Articles sent in for publication should not exceed 10,000 words. Contributions for the Briefings and Book Reviews sections should not exceed 4,000 words, though we expect the majority of such contributions to be much shorter.
3. We welcome contributions from all sections of our readership and especially from non-academic sources. Articles from whatever source should be written clearly and in such a way as to make them accessible to the widest possible readership.
4. Contributions should be typed, double-spaced, on one side of the page, and if possible, two copies should be submitted.
5. Articles should of course be well documented so that readers can follow up references given. We would prefer that such references be given in a bibliographical note, summarising principal sources, and that specific footnotes be kept to an absolute minimum.
6. Articles should be in English wherever possible, though we can accept contributions in French and German. Other languages will require special arrangements. We would welcome offers from readers who are prepared to do translations for the Review at a nominal fee (or, even better, in lieu of a donation).
